MCIS PRESTO STANDARDS

Presto is a browser product that MCIS maintains for member county use for the Property Tax System. In recent months, some counties have been experiencing multiple issues with Presto that have been entered in the MCIS Help Ticket system. Through MCIS research, testing, and working with the users, it has become apparent most issues are a direct result of the browser, the link, or the installation of Presto on a user’s terminal.

This short document has been created for all Presto users and may clear up any confusion of the installation and use of Presto.

Please take a few minutes to review these instructions. Each step documented is extremely pertinent to the use of Presto. If after you review the document and find you have questions, comments, or concerns, contact MCIS for any clarification needed.

This document has been created for county staff to confirm Presto is set-up on their personal terminal according to MCIS support standards. MCIS has received Help Tickets relating to Presto not working correctly. The resolution has sometimes been due to MCIS Presto standards not being in place on the user’s system. Please take the time to review this user-friendly document to verify you are using Presto to the best of its ability. It is highly recommended to review all instructions first, then start from the beginning to install if needed.

Proper Installation There are five (5) basic instructions to keep in mind with the installation of Presto on each staff member’s terminal.

1. Presto is to be used with the MCIS Property Tax System only. No other applications such as Payroll. 2. Each Presto user must have a Google Chrome Icon installed on their terminal. 3. The Presto link CANNOT be installed to the desktop. In this fashion, each time the link is selected, it will

create an additional tab within one browser – MCIS has determined this function does not work well with Presto.

4. Additional Presto links must be opened by selecting ‘New Window’ from the browser icon. 5. Each county has a specific Presto address they must use. This link should be available for Presto users

to create a tab on their browser. The link can be obtained from the county’s MIS Department.

Note: There have been numerous reported errors of: when creating additional sessions for Presto, user will select and copy the link from the Presto address bar AFTER a Presto session has been created. This process is incorrect. Each Presto session is a single session and must have an individual address. That means the next Presto session must have a different address than the first, and so on. If Presto sessions follow the same address, user may get a virtual device error, depending on if the same address is already in use or locked. Ensure you are using the correct address - refer to: Verify Presto Link

Contact MCIS if you have any questions regarding this.

Refreshing Presto Sometimes a browser will hold previous errors. At one time, Presto had severe issues with this. MCIS believes these issues have been resolved. However, it is good practice to refresh your Presto browser every so often to release any errors it may be holding on to. Note: The cache is always refreshed on each Presto Release.

The following steps will refresh your Presto by Emptying the Cache. You can run these instructions as many times in a day as you’d like, it will not harm any Presto settings.

Close Settings tab using X 9. Sign-on as normal

Presto and Passwords IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOT SAVE ANY PASSWORDS when using the browser. Saving your password in the Chrome browser may cause issues with Presto. When using the Chrome browser, you may be asked each time if you would like Chrome to save your password, to which the user should always reply Never. Follow these instructions to ensure you do not currently have saved passwords and that you are not bothered to be asked each time.

1. Click on the three (3) bars to the right of the address bar 2. Click on Settings 3. Scroll down to the bottom and select Show advanced settings . . . 4. Scroll down a few headings to Passwords and forms
