MAYDAYMONDAY,January2018:HappyNewYear!!In2017,theFireServiceexperienced93LODDs.Whilethenumberishigh,whenwedigdownintothedataweseethatonly1firefighterwaskilledinsideofaburningbuilding(SeeB.Carey).ThestaffhereatMaydayMonday’sisencouragedbythesestatisticsandhopesthatitisaresultofthecontinuedemphasisonfireservicetrainingandpreparation,thatmoreandmoremembersaregettingandstayingreadyfortheirnextfire.Wehopethatallarelearningfromthesacrificesoffirefighterswhohavebeeninjuredandkilledintheline-of-duty.
