of residential garage doors and automatic openers.

INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT
March 2014 – June 2014 (4 months)
Four-month placement working with the Gold Coast University Hospital’s Thoracic Surgery Department.
Worked with the thoracic surgery department on a research and development project to design
and create a digital medical prototype for determining the presence and severity of pleural air
leaks post-surgery.
Full Product life-cycle development from planning to prototype. I calculated product
specifications, sourced components from various suppliers around the world, designed and
constructed the electronics and 3D Printed/Laser cut housing, and assembled and tested the
fully finished prototype.
Delivered a fully working prototype and research report to the clients within a tight 12-week
project life cycle.
