Deacon Philip E. Heaney Entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, February 7, 2017
Deacon Phil served the people of Ma-ternity B.V.M. Church for many
years. He participated in many Parish Commit-tees, including starting the Disabilities Advisory Committee. Deacon Phil worked with the PREP Program to have the volunteers certified to teach Religion to our children. He also brought the Scouting Program to B.V.M. many years ago when he started Boy Scout Troup #174. He used his professional background in accounting to set up the first computerized bookkeeping system for our Parish. And Deacon Phil was dedicated to the sick and infirmed for many years, visiting local nursing homes, bringing the Eucharist to the resi-dents and preparing prayer services for them. Please keep Deacon Phil & family in your prayers!

MATERNITY B.V.M. PARISH 1870-2020
150TH PARISH ANNIVERSARY
In October 2019, our Parish will begin a year-long celebration
of 150 years.
This is truly a milestone for our Parish!
To organize a celebration worthy of this special anniversary, four
Committees have now been formed: LITURGICAL/SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL,
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND FINANCIAL.
Those interested in becoming part of any committee, please call the
Rectory during regular office hours. A MEETING FOR ALL WILL BE HELD MON., FEB. 27, 7 PM, RMR1.
2017 Catholic
Charities Appeal The 2016 Catholic Charities Appeal was a huge success. Our Parish not only met our goal of $52,965, we sur-
passed it. Our final total for 2016 amounts to $56,038. Our people are so generous, espe-cially to those in need. Thank You!
The 2017 Appeal has officially begun. Many of you have already received your mailing. If not, there are pledge cards and envelopes at all the Church Entrances.
Archbishop Chaput is asking for a Diocesan goal of $12.5 million in 2017. Our Parish goal is $58,261. We exceeded our goal last year and we can do it again this year. There are so many projects and ministries needing our financial help and our prayers.
Become a PARTNER IN HOPE and make an impact all year round!

THANK YOU, PROJECT H.O.P.E. VOLUNTEERS!
During the 2016 calendar year, Project H.O.P.E. provided 118 rides to medical ap-pointments for registered parishioners of Maternity B.V.M. Parish. Your time and talent is certainly a treasure to our Parish.
Severe Weather Conditions Severe, snowy weather on weekends will affect
our Mass schedule. If this occurs, Masses will not be cancelled in the Upper Church,
but may be moved to the Lower Chapel. Also, with the exception of attending Church or meetings, please: no parking in any church lots at any time, especially during the winter.
It is a liability and seriously impedes effective snow removal. Thank you!

IImportant Old Church News We have a serious roofing problem in our Old Church. The good news: it isn’t on the outside and no water or other damage is in-volved. The inside roof, however, has severe cracking that needs immediate repair to avoid any additional internal problems. We are already talking to people who do this work and are seeking bids to repair our Old Church inside roof as economically as possi-ble, and we hope to start this work soon. Sadly, this means we must close our Old Church, effective immediately, until the in-side roof is in perfect shape. Thank you for your patience in this important matter.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered, and the Conference will conclude with Mass celebrated by the Auxiliary Bishop John McIntyre. Lunch is included. Register now at man-upphilly.com.
