A Visa is a requirement to enter Taiwan. You should apply for a Resident Visa (not a Tourist
visa and avoid visitor vista where possible). Once you enter Taiwan, you can then apply for
an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) within 15 days of entry. Depending on your country of
residence, the visa process can differ considerably. We would advise applying for a visa as
soon as possible and ask your local representative office for advice. You may be advised by
your local office to apply for a visitor visa in some rare circumstances.
Students are advised to apply for a multiple entry visa if they plan to leave and come back
into Taiwan during their stay (e.g. practicums outside Taiwan). Please be sure that your
passport has at least 3 months duration after the expected end date of your studies.
If you enter on a tourist Visa, you will need to leave Taiwan, apply again under resident
visa and re-enter.
