Mission Statement
Saint Michael Parish is a Catholic Chris!an
community called together by God to share in
the mission of Jesus Christ. Our community
invites each member to par!cipate ac!vely in
the parish by freely developing his/her unique,
God-given gi"s to love and care for one
another in the name of Jesus Christ. We
recognize our responsibility to share these gi"s
with all members of the Kingdom of God. We
bear the responsibility of a community of
believers to accept and respect each other's
expressions of faith, to proclaim the Glory of
God through worship, ministry and joyful love
for all people. We willingly embrace the needs
of our members as well as the members of the
wider human community and challenge each
other to live the gospel values of Jesus Christ.
We hope that living our parish vision will result
in the spiritual growth and unity of our parish.

SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL CATHOLIC PARISH VOL.66 NO.21 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY MAY 27, 2018
ut simple as the Sign of the Cross is, it carries a brave weight: it names the Trinity, celebrates the Creator,
and brings home all the power of faith to the brush of fingers on skin and bone and belly. So do we, sometimes well and sometimes ill, labor to bring home our belief in God's love to the stuff of our daily lives, the skin and bone of this world — and the Sign of the Cross helps us to remember that we have a Companion on the road.

PRAYER FOR MEMORIAL DAY
God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

laughs back at the Father and gives birth to the Spirit. The whole Trinity laughs and gives birth to us.”

Is GOD Calling You to Serve
Serving on the Parish Pastoral Council is a ministry to the whole parish.
The Role and Function of the St. Michael Parish Pastoral Council
The St. Michael Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body, pastoral in nature, because it strives to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit among God's people in
the parish. The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) gives its help to the pastor in fostering pastoral activity; it investigates, under the authority of the pastor, all those things which
pertain to pastoral works to ponder them, and to propose practical conclusions about them.
Specifically, the PPC’s purpose is to enhance the process of pastoral planning, developing pastoral programs, improving pastoral services, and evaluating the pastoral effectiveness of various programs and services.
When considering membership on the council, the following criteria should be kept in mind. Council members should have the ability to study and reflect prayerfully, and to recognize and respect the viewpoints of others. Potential candidates should be of proven faith, with sound morals, demonstrating the gifts of wisdom and prudence, and willing to commit their time, talent and wisdom in a consultative and collaborative manner.
PPC Members serve a three year term. They are required to attend monthly meetings of the council (from September until June). Members are also expected to participate in various Parish Activities and any ongoing formation process as directed by the Pastor.
If you know of someone you believe would like to serve or if you are feeling called to serve your Parish in this unique leadership role, please consider completing a nomination form.
(Note: Nominated individuals will be required to participate in an evening of discernment in either June or July)
Nominations forms can be found at the bottom this bulletin or on the St. Michael website
http://www.stmichaelcanton.org/ Forms can be turned in to the Parish Office, dropped into the weekly
collection or emailed to: [email protected]
All nomination forms need to be received no later than Monday, June 4th.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day (May 29th-Aug. 28th)
Where: St. Michael field – by the playground.
Don’t know what Ultimate Frisbee is? We’ll teach you!
All skill levels are welcome!
Ultimate Frisbee is a great way for adults to stay active. It doesn’t require a lot of
skill. If you can throw and catch a frisbee and are willing to walk/jog/skip/shuffle,
you can play Ultimate Frisbee. Bring the whole family – younger kids can play on
the playground while teens and adults play an organized game (church does not
provide supervision for playground). All teens must have a signed permission slip
(one covers all summer); adults can sign a waiver on site. We will meet on the
north end of the football field (by the playground).
