“You must be
the change
you wish to see
in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi
1869 - 1948
Trouble in the world is part of every newspaper and virtually every newscast. The many
people that volunteer to help with the ministries of House of Hope put into action the quote
of the Indian leader. Vocational training such as the jewelry program, working side-by-side
with Haitians in construction projects, participating in mission trips, and sharing your
financial gifts are all part of making the change.
There is very important step beyond Gandhi’s quote. “You are the light of the world Let
your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father
in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16. Through your participation, change can be eternal in the
lives of our Haitian friends - Carl

needs are great in Canaan.
Pastor Lesmv served in the
Tabarre church before
leading the church in

meets on the grounds of
AHBZ. It began in 2009 for
the grannies. They were
soon joined by the House of
Hope girls and people from
the neighbor-hood. There
are many voodoo people in
area. The church in Tabarre
has become to focal point for
the other three churches.
Pastor Phénold’s character-
istics include an ever-present
smile and a servant’s heart.
Pastor François is married
with five children. The
church meets in Cite
Soliel The area is one of
the poorest and most
dangerous in the western
hemisphere. Because of
its proximity to AHBZ,
church members are able
to participate in activities
at the Tabarre church,
attend Vacation Bible
Schools at AHBZ and be
served by the George
Shinn Clinic.
Pastor Fred is married with
two children. The church
meets in a mountainous
area north of Port-au-Prince
with no school or hospital
nearby. Pastor Fred has a
continuing relationship with
the church in Tabarre. He
is the pastor that has
officiated at all of the
weddings held at Hope
Church in Tabarre. He also
is providing assistance in
supplying teaching
materials for the other
churches.

December 11-15, 2015 Christmas TripThe annual Christmas trip is known as the “Party Trip.”. Seven parties were held in three days! There were activities,
snacks, drinks, gifts and a message for each one. The message delivered to kids and grannies was about God becoming
man and coming to us in the lowly manger, showing us that he loves all of us, poor as well as rich, and that we all might
know him. At the staff and teacher’s parties our message was one of appreciation for their efforts and how proud we are of
the example they set for the children on how to live and love as God would have us do so. Everyone had a great time and
were very thankful for the efforts. – Bill Laingen.

The goal is to teach lessons through practice and devotions
that will stick with our kids throughout their lives. We don’t
just want to make them their potential as soccer players. We
want our kids to reach their potential as people.
To donate, visit: http://www.thepitchhaiti.org/donate/
At The Pitch, the primary goal isn’t to promote
soccer, it is to love kids. Soccer is a great
framework to teach our kids the importance of
team building, self-discipline and hard work.
