The Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes Training Programme hasdeveloped from grass roots work with care home staff, adapted from GSF in Primary Care specifically for this care. The programme, originally for nursinghomes, now includes residential care homes, learning disabilities, young physicallydisabled and those providing dementia care.

The Secure Sensory GardenA beautiful large conservatory overlooks the
carefully landscaped gardens. The garden is planted
with fragrant, scented seasonal flowers.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the benefits of
the garden daily, weather permitting. The fully
enclosed garden has been designed for wheelchair
and facilitated access with a jasmine arch, plants,
wind chimes to stimulate all the senses.

Providing highly specialised care
with registered nurses on duty
24 hours a day. All our nurses
undergo additional specialised
training in dementia and end of life care.
Staff are trained in all aspects of the residents care needs,
including health and safety, food hygiene, first aid, dementia
care, infection control, manual handling and mental capacity
act.
Our highly motivated and caring personnel know each resident
individually as we never use agency staff.
Facilities
ActivitiesOur staff are on-hand to ensure that our residents enjoythe best quality of life. We have a qualified ActivitiesCo-ordinator who is committed to provide activities to stimulate and entertain, including:
• reminiscence, reading, bingo, ball, skittles and chair basketball games, connect four, scrabble and life story design
• designing, painting and drawing items such as photo frames
• outings to the Church, local park, shops or pubs areencouraged
• entertainment, armchair physio, occupational therapy, music,dance and old movies or television are also regularlyprovided
• wheelchair accessible raised gardening
Special occasions (eg Christmas, Easter and Birthdays) arecelebrated and enjoyed by residents and staff alike. In thesummer, we hold a variety of garden parties, entertainmentsand barbecues.
PetsThe home has a pet cat, who is also a
friendly companion for the residents.
Personal pets may be considered by
the manager in some circumstances.

MealsThe food we serve is prepared to a very high standard.Tempting meals are prepared daily using fresh,healthy ingredients. Vegetarian or special diets are catered for in our new state of the art kitchen for which we have beenawarded a 5 star rating by Rushmoor Borough Council.

We specialise in providing a broad range of
entertainments such as the D-Day Street Party,
Halloween Party, Easter Bonnet Making and
Parades. Special events and celebrations are heldregularly for the residents’ involvement.
Participation is enjoyed by even the most discerning

Surakshya RN REGISTERED NURSE MANAGERSurakshya came from Nepal and started at Maple House in2005, she is the palliative care team leader and has donespecialist training in dementia and palliative care.
Brandon RN CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER
Brandon has been at Maple House since 2006.He qualified as a nurse from Kings College London and hasPhysiology BSc as well as a trained tutor for Moving andRepositioning/First Aid Trainer and Infection Control.
Virginia NURSE MANAGER, RN
Virginia has a vast experience of some thirty years innursing home management. She is a nurse trainer and NVQassessor ensuring the highest quality of staff training. She isalso qualified as a trainer in manual handling, POVA and hasaccreditation in business, dementia care and the GoldStandard Framework for end of life care.
