Introduction
LYTAG Lightweight Aggregate was first produced in the UK in 1958, since thenover 16 million tonnes has been produced. LYTAG is UK based with a presence in
Europe and the Middle East. In 2013 Lytag Ltd will have an operating capacity of inexcess of 280,000 tonnes from two plants, one in Gdansk, Poland and the otherfrom a new production unit near Selby, North Yorkshire.
Our Strategy:
Develop the Lytag owned brands and become the lightweight aggregate market leader;
Increase product availability and secure the material supply chain;
Promote sustainability and provide a credible alternative to natural aggregates for construction;

What is Lytag?
Lytag products are secondary aggregates made from fly ash, a by
product from coal fired power stations which makes them trulysustainable.
General Pro erties
Lytag is very light having a bulk density of between 700 and 800kg/m3.
Stockpiled moisture content typically 8-15%
Void ratio exceeds 40%
Resistant to high temperatures
Spherical granular particles
Resistant to freeze/thaw cycles

Logistics Savings Lighter Lytag units oftenmeans that more units can be transported at thesame time on the same vehicle. This deliverssavings in terms of transport costs.
Precast Concrete
Cranage Savings Lighter Lytag units require
smaller cranes, which reduces the cost of cranehire.
Enhanced Design Capability Using Lytag allowsthe use of larger floor and roof spans in designconcepts, that are not achievable using standardconcrete.
Easier Fixings Using Lytag Lightweight Precastconcrete improves the accuracy of fixings andreduces tool wear due to less resistance from the
coarse particles during drilling.
