LIBRARY4.0
"Libraries, by nature, are very similar to living organisms
in that they are influenced by external pressures to
constantly evolve, including in this case, changing
information technology environments and a greater
reliance on web-based services." [2]

Social Media has become an
integrated tool for many
libraries; by creating
communities, encouraging
engagement and providing
opportunities for the libraryto reach out.
As the Web has developed
through various phases, so too
has the library evolved
alongside technological
advances from the
early Library 1.0, to one where
the library and userscollaborate to create content.
The next phase to be
considered is Library 4.0, an
"intelligent library" [2].
Where will Social Media sit
within this Library 4.0 model?
How can Social Media empower the library user community?
Can libraries use Social Media analytics to predict reading
trends for collection management decisions/demands?
Where will Social Media fit in the future of the library?
