At three weeks postoperatively, the motorized nail had shifted within the patulous medullary canal, with bending of the proximal locking bolt.

After weight-bearing without crutches against medical advice, and then falling, the patient sustained a segmental fracture of the proximal part of the femur through the proximal locking

bolt site, with telescoping of the lengthened segment.
