At three weeks postoperatively, the motorized nail had shifted within the patulous medullary canal, with bending of the proximal locking bolt.



Standing anteroposterior radiograph, made at the end of lengthening, demonstrates full correction of the limb-length inequality and excellent limb alignment.



After weight-bearing without crutches against medical advice, and then falling, the patient sustained a segmental fracture of the proximal part of the femur through the proximal locking

bolt site, with telescoping of the lengthened segment.
