LARGE SCALE ACTIVE RFID SYSTEM UTILIZING
ZIGBEE NETWORKS
Introduction:
RFID is high-technology automatic identification based on wireless networks and enable
noncontact identification; however, they cannot be applied beyond their radio communication
range. Considering this, the present paper proposes a large scale active RFID system utilizing
Zigbee networks in order to extend a reader’s radio coverage.
Existing System:
Zigbee wireless technology is having limitation of distance while wireless
communication takes place to transfer the data like RFID number, sensor value, etc. Hence we
cannot be applied beyond their radio communication range. Hence we propose this system.
Proposed system:
The system consists of a master RFID reader, intermediate node (IN), collection node
(CN), and RFID tags. In general, the reader acts as a traditional RFID reader and communicates
with devices on Zigbee networks. Intermediate Nodes (INs) for transferring messages or
commands from the reader or the CN can include a general Zigbee device, a sensor node, or a
Collection node (CN). The collection node can communicate with other Zigbee devices and acts
as a remote RFID reader. The RFID reader is attached with 8051 microcontroller with serial
communication in main node. The RFID reader is used the RFID tag information and fed to
microcontroller using UART. The microcontroller transfers the data to intermediate node using
zigbee wireless protocol. The intermediate node receives the information sent by main node and
strength the signal and it will send the data to the collection node. The collection node consist of
zigbee with PC, and the information are stored in pc the zigbee wireless protocol and RS232
protocol, then the information is collected using .NET application.
