Lapeer is a downtown that’s easy to get to know and love. Enjoy a meal at one of our many dining establishments, experience our up and coming art and cultural scene, or simply take a stroll through one of our parks or along our pedestrian friendly sidewalks.
One of downtown Lapeer’s best features is its walkability. With an abundance of parking accompanied by extra wide sidewalks, you’ll want to give yourself a little extra time because you’ll find yourself pausing often to visit one of our intriguing specialty shops, visit the art gallery, or enjoy a little refreshment.
We are proud that most of our shops, restaurants, and services are locally and independently owned, some of which are family owned for the second or third generation. It’s one of the reasons that you’ll experience a level of customer service that is hard to find anywhere else.
As you explore downtown Lapeer, expect to find the cultural elements of any big city, but with the charm that you’ve come to love in a small town. The Pix Theatre and Gallery 194 are the cornerstone for the blossoming
art scene. History lovers will marvel at the grand old historic courthouse while appreciating the ongoing historic restoration efforts all around them.
Adjacent to Nepessing Street you’ll find a series of parks with recreational activities for kids, trails for walking and biking and even a kayak launch to access Farmers Creek and the Flint River.
Top off the evening with a beverage and dinner at one of our many fine dining establishments and sample the lively local music scene at a local bar.
With its beautiful, historical setting, its small-town warmth and friendliness, its countless cultural, historic, and recreational attractions, downtown Lapeer indeed captivates everyone.

2019 DOWNTOWN
highlights
Take time to enjoy these Downtown Lapeer projects and improvements taking place this year.
The Ed LaClair Lapeer Rotary Pocket Park will be completed this spring, 2019. The park includes natural stone seating, sculptures, brick pathway and a stage. Funds for the park included $60,000 raised by the community through crowd funding, a $50,000 matching grant from Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and a commitment of $50,000 from Lapeer Rotary.
The Military Hometown Heroes Banners honor and recognize military personnel (active, honorably discharged or deceased) that reside or have resided in the County of Lapeer. Over 70 banners are displayed starting on Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
The facade of the New To You Consignment Store will look dramatically different later this year. Lapeer Team Work and the City of Lapeer received a $2.1 million grant from Michigan Economic Development Corporation for major upgrades to the building--the former location of the McCory’s Dime Store.

OUR MISSION The Lapeer Downtown Development Authority, in collaboration with other local public and private entities, strives to ensure the growth, health and prosperity of our vibrant downtown.
WHAT WE DO The Lapeer DDA is one of twenty-five recognized Michigan Main Street communities who follow the National Main Street model for downtown revitalization, facilitating the transition of downtown to a family friendly, specialty retail shopping and entertainment district. This is done by being a community focused, volunteer based, grass roots organization with an emphasis on historic preservation.
Downtown Vitality: We actively promote and drive business to the downtown region through powerful print and online communications; as well as major community events like the Monday Night Car Cruise, Summer Concert Series, WinterFest, and more.
Downtown Experience: We create a more active and engaging downtown by creating welcoming spaces, like our newly constructed pocket park, along with enhancing our walk ways with our Hometown Hero banners and high school spirit flags.
Advocacy: The Lapeer Main Street DDA assumes a leadership role with regard to all issues that impact the future of Lapeer. We often serve as the voice of the downtown community, ensuring that needs and concerns are addressed fairly and in a timely fashion.
Progress: • In 2018 there was $900,000 in
public and private investment in our downtown.
• Over 190 businesses call downtown Lapeer their home.
• Businesses within the Main Street district created 978 jobs, almost 600 of those are full time.
• $162,000 was raised to build the Ed LaClair Memorial Pocket Park.
• Over 70 military men and women were recognized on banners during the first annual Hometown Hero Program.

LAPEER — Lakestone Bank & Trust employees will serve free ice cream with toppings along with popcorn and lem-onade at the 17th annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic courthouse lawn
in downtown Lapeer. Entertainment at the event
will include Oopsie Daisy the Clown and Silly Me the Clown, along with prize drawings every hour. In addition, the Lapeer Symphony Orchestra will play a selection of instrumental music.
The bank started this event as a way to say “Thank You” to community members. It has become a downtown Lapeer tradition, drawing more than 1,000 guests last year and going through more than 60 gallons of ice cream.
LAPEER — Stone’s Throw Theater will present its sec-ond show for the summer season with a side-splitting comedy.
Next up is The Kitchen Witches a madcap com-edy written by Canadian Playwright Caroline Smith. Performances run from Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 24.
The Kitchen Witches will feature veteran actress-es Mollie Jones and Karla Froehlich and introducing Steven Schniers and Brandon Pretty. Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two “mature” cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called The Kitchen Witches, the insults are flung harder than the food. Dolly’s long-suffer-ing TV-producer son Stephen tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly’s dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel’s, it’s a losing battle, and the show becomes a rating smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer.
The Kitchen Witches dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 15-23 with Friday performance times of 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Performances will be held in the new Gallery at Beyer’s Furniture space locat-ed at 423 W Nepessing St., in downtown Lapeer. All seating is general admission.
Tickets are on sale for these shows with limited seat-ing. Tickets are $15 for senior/student and military and $18 for regular admission and are available by calling our box office at 810-660-7805 or online at www.stonesthrowtheater.org.
Stone’s Throw Theater is sponsored by Lakestone Bank & Trust and Beyer’s Furniture and Milnes Auto Group as its season sponsors, The County Press as media sponsor and providing support as pro-duction sponsors are Aspen Creek Studios, Jocuns Law Offices, Churches Lumber, Mollie’s Vases and the Lapeer Downtown Development Authority.
Stone’s Throw Theater is a newly-founded arts organi-zation primarily focused on musical theater entertainment within and around Lapeer County.

LAPEER — The Lapeer Art Association (LAA) will host a Lapeer Summer Art Camp for Kids from July 16-21 on the Chatfield School campus.
This intensive, week-long art experience will extend beyond what students may experience in a school’s art class. Students will create ongoing projects in some of the following art mediums: Drawing, painting, batik (wax and dye), printmaking, 3D projects (clay, assemblage, wire and plaster) and outside drawing on the grounds of the Chatfield campus.
The camp schedule will be Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday will feature an art exhibit and reception featuring the works of the campers.
The LAA Summer Art Camp is fortunate to have four vet-eran art educators: Marianna Fiedor, Caren Hulzenga, Mike Monville and Jacquie Piechowski. All of whom have been educating students for decades through art.
The LAA has the support of the following local restau-rants as they have all stepped forward to provide lunch each day for the campers: Cavelli’s, Dagwood’s, Detroit Burger Bar, E.G. Nick’s and Woodchips.
LAA’s goal is to encourage and help new artists, bring artists together, promote the fine arts and provide oppor-tunities in the community to be involved in the arts. In an effort to support and serve local artists, the L.A.A. encour-ages and welcomes all artists,
both amateur and professional in all areas of fine arts and crafts.
The LAA Summer Art Camp is limited to 25 stu-dents between the ages 10-14 years of age. Space is limited to 20 students and parents can register their chil-dren online at www.lapeerart.org or in person at the Gallery 194 Gift Shop. Cost for this week-long art experience is $150.00 and will include a daily lunch and snack.
The Lapeer Summer Art Camp is made possible through the support of Chatfield School, Cavelli’s, Dagwood’s, Detroit Burger Bar, E.G. Nick’s, Funkins, John Brooks Inc., The County Press and Woodchips.

LAPEER — The Historic Farmers Market of Lapeer will be changing its layout for the Saturday market days in an effort to provide the space to include even more vendors and visitors, and as a slate of family-friendly activities are on the horizon, Market Manager Denise Becker hopes the change will continue the market’s recent positive momentum.
Instead of closing Nepessing Street on Saturdays during market hours, vendors will now line the sidewalk adjacent to the historic courthouse lawn, wrapping around to Court Street. “We don’t have enough space without some more spaces, so (Lapeer Police Chief David) Frisch suggested we utilize the Court Street parking spots and bike lane,” said Becker. “When we need more spaces we will have vendors place their tents in the parking
spaces on Court and the police department will place the wooden barricades in the bike lane.” Becker said the new layout will be similar to Wednesday’s market days, which do not require the closing of Nepessing Street.
According to Lapeer Downtown Development Authority James Alt, the change was necessitated by concerns by local business owners regarding the closing on Saturdays of Nepessing Street. “All of them made clear that they support the market and want it to suc-ceed and grow.
Several expressed con-cerns of their numbers being affected by the street clo-sures, and relayed that it caused confusion for many of their customers who did not know why the street was closed,” said Alt. “Some expressed that it impacts them financially, but the continued comment was that while there might actually be more vendors on Saturday, being spread out on the street actually causes the market to look smaller and it is not recognizable as a market. The fear is that this actually does the market a disservice.”
Alt said the optics of the market on its two days leads people to assume the Wednesday is more full, when in reality the Wednesday market features fewer ven-dors. “The hope is, the new change will be a win-win for everyone. It keeps the streets open, while allowing the market room to grow. It will create a better visual experi-ence/look for the market,” he said.
According to Becker, the
change will ultimately benefit both vendors and shoppers. “As far as customers, I know that it will be easier for them to navigate the market by being able to park closer,” she said. “As far as ven-dors go, it will be a closer together environment, like our Wednesday market. The vendors in and around the pavilion won’t be separated from the rest and customers will be able to see all of the vendors.”
This Saturday (June 9) will see another new change for the market as well. For the first time, Becker and the market’s resident musician Julius Medina will be bringing “Country Music Day” to the market, which will feature Medina, and possibly other musicians, performing coun-try music favorites during market hours.
Other special dates are also planned for the com-ing month, said Becker. “June 16 will be our ‘Strawberry Festival’, with free Strawberry Shortcake for our customers, starting at 10 a.m., while supplies last,” she said. “This is counting on the strawberries coming in on time. If they are late, we will have the Strawberry Festival
the next weekend, June 23, along with WMPC live remote event at the market ‘Praise on the Porch.’”
June 23 is also the open-ing day for new children’s program Power of Produce. The Power of Produce Club (POP Club) is a farmers mar-ket-based children program that seeks to teach children about fruits and vegeta-bles, local food systems, and healthy food prepara-tion through fun activities. Participants engage in the full farmers market experience by trying new foods, having con-versations with farmers and buying local produce.
Fun weekly activities ranging from cooking demon-strations to farmers market scavenger hunts encourage the children to try new foods. Children 3-13 can register to become a POP Club mem-ber. Each Saturday they will come to the market POP Club booth and participate in that week’s activity. Then they will receive $2 in POP Bucks to spend on fruits and/or vegetables of their choosing. They get to talk to the local farmers and pick their own produce.

WinterFest draws 1,000people downtown for holiday fun
LAPEER — More than 1,000 people congregated in the downtown Lapeer area Saturday for WinterFest, making it one of the most successful ever in the event’s history.
In addition to enjoying a parade, Pub Crawl and visits with Santa, attendees of WinterFest also had a responsibility to cast their votes for Best Holiday Window Display, and according to Lapeer Main Street DDA Director James Alt, it was a responsibility many took quite seriously. More than 300 votes were cast, and this year’s winner emerged as the Red Room Social Club.
The Red Room Social Club joins 2016 winner New To You Consignment and last year’s champ Burke’s Flowers as the latest business to be awarded the cov-eted reindeer trophy. “They get the bragging rights for the year and can display it however they want,” said Alt. “It’s just something fun to get people partic-ipating in downtown events.” Red Room Social Club beat out 18 other businesses for the title.

wife, Bonnie, his son, John, who now owns and operates Ross Automotive Supply, and his daughters, Kathy Smith and Jeanne Wilson were in attendance.
“I’m really very pleased with the park being named after Ed,” said Bonnie. “He gave a lot to the community, and I think it’s nice that they thought to dedicate it to him. Kathy told me about it and I had no idea they had planned this. I’m very proud of him, and the park is just gorgeous. I was overwhelmed by all of it.”
“It meant a lot to all of us,” said John. “All I can say is that both of our parents instilled in the six of us that you should give back to the community in which you live, and put in a hard days’ work. We are all very proud that the Rotary Club thought enough of our dad to name the park after him. He continued being involved quite heavily in service work for the community and his church well into
his 80s, basically until his health kept him from doing it anymore. Our mom and dad set the bar pretty high for us kids, but defi-nitely gave us something to look up to and appreciate. Trust me, we are all trying to make sure that we don’t disappoint them.”
Kathy, who owns and operates K’s Auto & Truck Service, is also a member of the Rotary Club, and said she was also completely surprised by the Rotary Club’s news that the park would be named after her father. “Everybody’s so excited about this park, and they’re just doing a magnif-icent job, it looks gorgeous,” said Kathy. “My dad gave a lot to the Rotary Club and to the community. This community meant everything to him. He was a dedicated businessman and volunteer and he was always involved in something to help, and I think this is such an awesome way to honor him. I just wish he was here to see it.”
LAPEER — Next week, the Lapeer Main Street Downtown Development Authority invites women and the surrounding areas downtown to a one-night, one-stop shop. Returning for another year is A Ladies Night Out on Nov. 15 from 5-8 p.m. Beginning at Osentoski Insurance, ladies are invited to hit the town in support of the Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Abuse (LACADA) while enjoying an evening of shopping, contests and more.
“It’s a great opportunity to see all downtown Lapeer has to offer and see that in addition to great food and businesses, we have great retail shops too,” said Lapeer DDA Director James Alt.
In addition to the permanent locations in downtown, Alt said the walk will feature several temporary vendors who have taken up a one-night-only residence inside existing shops as well as in a currently-va-cant storefront. “By bringing ven-dors inside businesses, shoppers will get to see some variety and the
vendors will be able to see down-town Lapeer as well,” he said.
The event, like last year, sup-ports LACADA through donations. Attendees are asked to provide a small donation to be dropped off at Osentoski Insurance. Currently, LACADA is asking for a variety of items, including pots/pans, kitchen towels/wash cloths, liquid dishwash-er soap, hot pads, dish scrubbies, garbage bags, paper towel, all-pur-pose cleaner, Clorox Wipes, disin-fectant spray and many other essen-tials. Donations are good for one entry into a giveaway that features a $200 value Best Western prize pack-age, a $150 Woodchips Pit Master Package and a Quinn Willoughby Photography family photo package valued at $250. All attendees receive a free tote bag. “Last year, we were able to collect two truckloads of donations for LACADA,” said Alt.

LAPEER — For the month of December, Santa will be taking up res-idence in Lapeer, and on Dec. 1 he’ll be arriving in style.
Back for another year, Dec. 1 marks the annual downtown Lapeer Christmas Parade, organized by the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce. The holiday parade, the theme of which will be “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” features 30-35 entries yearly, said Chamber Executive Director Neda Payne. “We thought it would be a fun theme this year for kids and youth groups,” she said.
Heading down Nepessing Street through the heart of downtown Lapeer, the parade will kick off at 11 a.m. and regularly attracts several hundred viewers, said Payne. On
emcee duty during the event will be Payne and volunteer Doug Kohler with help from Tony Macksoud. Music is provided by Gary Dixon.
The big man in red himself will be marshalling the parade. “Santa is obviously the highlight of the show,” said Payne. “And after the parade, he’ll head to his house until every kid is seen that day.” Located adjacent to the Farmer’s Market Pavilion in front of the Historic Courthouse, Santa will take up residence for several dates this holiday season. Making his first appearance Nov. 30 during Winterfest from 5-8 p.m., Santa will be available for visits Dec. 1, 3, 7, 8, 10, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, and on Christmas Eve.

LAPEER — Ed LaClair’s legacy was already cemented in downtown Lapeer. Having owned and operated Ross Automotive Supply for decades, as well as his serving on the board of directors for nearby Lapeer County Bank & Trust (now Lakestone), LaClair had established him-self as a hardworking, community-mind-ed family man who gave back. Now, the community is giving something back to Ed, making sure that he is remembered by everyone who visits the area.
After a crowdfunding campaign that amassed $50,000, a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places program, and a $50,000 pledge from the Rotary Club of Lapeer, the Lapeer Downtown Development Authority (DDA)
and the Rotary Club have dedicated the new Downtown Lapeer Pocket Park on West Nepessing Street to LaClair, forever commemorating his impact and local ser-vice work.
Work has been underway on the downtown park, located between the PIX Theatre and Burke’s Flowers, for months, and the space is now taking shape. The park will feature landscaping, brick pav-ers, natural stone tables and boulders, all surrounding a performance stage. String lighting will serve as a canopy over the space, and a one-of-a-kind gated entrance by Columbiaville-based artist Bill Palmer will serve as its entrance.
LaClair, who was a long-time Rotary member, was honored by his friends, fam-ily and local public officials at the park’s dedication ceremony on Tuesday after-noon, where the Rotary Club presented the DDA with a check for $50,000. LaClair’s

LAPEER — Last week, the cast and crew of Stone’s Throw Theater newest production, The Peppermint Bear and the Toy Elves, stepped into the first rehearsal for a read-through and sing-through of the holiday show that will be present-ed in early December as a benefit production tour to raise funds for the Lapeer American Legion Post 16 – Veterans Emergency Relief Fund.
Stone’s Throw Theater (STT) joined forces with the Lapeer American Legion to create a holiday show that is “Christmassy fun for the whole family,” said STT founder Tony Stroh-Piechowski. While the show is really tailored to kids age three to 10, he said, it is a perfect show for parents, grand-parents, aunts and uncles to bring the little ones for some holiday magic as well as a chance for them to meet the big man in red — Santa.
“We’ve been able to assemble a really fantastic creative team and an equally talented cast for this show,” Stroh-Piechowski said. Directing this production is Carolyn Michelson Dougherty, with Music Direction by Julie Hugunin and Choreography by Hanna Machado. The cast including adults, young adults and children from and around the Lapeer area: Audin Broecker, Marie Burchi, Chloe Caringi, Shelby Cragg, Ben Flotemersch, Christopher Hunt, Gavin Wandrie and Georgia Wright.
The cast and crew will dial the “wayback machine” to the year 1937 and, at the time, alter the name to The Cinnamon Bear Show featuring Paddy O’Cinnamon Bear (Santa’s right hand – ere paw – man). The Cinnamon Bear was an old-time radio program produced by Transco (Transcription Company of America), based in Hollywood, California. The series was specifically designed to be listened to six days a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas, with its first broadcast between Friday, November 26 and Saturday December 25, 1937.
Shortly after the radio success, the show moved to television and also became a staple in a number of department stores at the holiday
season – primarily on the west coast. “After all, Detroit had Christmas Carol for the holiday season,” said Stroh-Piechowski. It was around 1980 that the show was renamed and rewritten into The Peppermint Bear Shows, and
there are about 10 of them, he said.
“I became familiar with this show when I was liv-
ing in Portland and was asked to play the role of Santa. At first I thought
to myself, ‘you have got to be kidding me, I can’t do children’s the-
ater,’ and then promptly accepted the role,” said
Stroh-Piechowski. “This silly little show really changed how I viewed Christmas. I was in another show across town where I was
playing Uncle Billy in a new adaptation of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life – The
Musical,’ so by morning I was Santa and by night I was Uncle Billy. Let’s just say I was a little loopy that holi-day season.”
There will be four shows this December will all proceeds going to the American Legion Veterans Emergency Relief Fund. The show schedule and locations are as follows: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at The Imlay City Senior Center; Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. and noon perfor-mances at the Lapeer American Legion Post 16; and one performance on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Old Town Hall in Metamora. Thirty minutes prior to each show there is a continental style breakfast for every-one to enjoy, coffee, juice, fruit and pastry and after each show there is time for a photo with Santa, the Elves and Peppermint Bear.
Tickets for the Peppermint Bear Show are $10 for adults and $5 for children two years of age and older and can be reserved by contacting the American Legion at 810-664-9312, Stones Throw Theater at 810-660-7805 or online at www.stonesthrowtheater.org.
This American Legion Fundraiser is supported through the generous con-tributions of many local businesses: Champion Force Athletics, Lakestone Bank & Trust, Lapeer Rent-All, Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Oesch and Seiting PC, RYO Distribution, sons of the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America.

LAPEER — The Lapeer District Library’s Marguerite deAngeli Branch will be host local author Catherine Ulrich Brakefield, on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.

LAPEER — Back by popular demand after last year’s perfor-mances at the PIX Theatre sold out quickly, the iconic down-town theater will host Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold on Dec. 14-15. Performances are at 7:30 p.m.
It’s “CSI: Bethlehem” in this hol-iday mystery extravaganza, from the author of Late Nite Catechism, as Sister takes on the mystery that has intrigued historians throughout the ages — whatever happened to the Magi’s gold? (“We know that Mary used the frankin-cense and myrrh as a sort of pot-pourri — they were in a barn after all.”)
Retelling the story of the nativity, as only Sister can, this hilarious holiday production is bound to become a yearly clas-sic. Employing her own scientific tools, assisted by a local choir as well as a gaggle of audience members, Sister creates a living nativity unlike any you’ve ever seen. With gifts galore and bun-dles of laughs, Sister’s Christmas Catechism is sure to become the newest addition to your holiday traditions.
The same actress from last year’s show will return to bring you Sister’s Christmas Catechism on both Friday and Saturday eve-nings. Katie Beth Chrismer, media specialist for the Center for the Arts of Greater Lapeer, said, “Her wonderful mix of comedy and improv will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole evening… and be sure you’re sit-ting up straight. Audience partic-ipation is a big part of this show, so be ready to feel like a student in Catholic school as “Sister” teaches your class. Be sure to use your manners if you’re called on to speak in class. It’s all in good fun, whether you’re a good stu-dent or just here for a good laugh. LAPEER — Ever want to be a part of the audience for a radio broadcast? Here’s the opportunity. Join the audience at The PIX Theatre at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 for a music and vari-ety show being broadcast through Lapeer’s own Solid State Radio.
Hosted by Mitch Gill and featuring local perform-ers, December’s show will feature guest performers comedian Diego Attanasio and musician Scott Green.
Attanasio is a Detroit-based comedian originally from Peru who quickly wins over crowds with his quick wit, likability, and sarcastic observations. His rapid-fire delivery and onstage cha-risma make Diego one of the most notable acts in the Midwest. Diego has per-formed stand-up in Alaska, Hawaii, and everywhere in between.
Green is a Lapeer native who now lives in the Flint area. Performing mostly rock with a little blues thrown in, he was a mem-ber of the band Cripple Creak. He’s excited about
his new album, “Who Is Scott Green” and perform-ing in his hometown on the PIX stage.
Gill, host for Live from The PIX, was born and raised in Michigan, and he has been a professional announcer for more than 25 years. He was a disc jock-ey on the radio for 13 of those years. While in radio he held the positions of morning host (which made the most of his outgoing and fun personality), and production director (which took advantage of his voice-over and production skills).
There is no cost for admission to the new series of Friday evening shows, but it is recommended to reserve tickets in advance, as seating is limited in the theatre. To get your tick-et, visit the PIX Box Office located inside Gallery 194, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets may also be reserved over the phone at 810-664-4824 or online at www.centerfortheartslapeer.org.

LAPEER — As with any outdoor project, so much depends on weather, and in Michigan, that’s a hard thing to predict. Still, progress on the construction of the new downtown Lapeer Pocket Park is well underway.
Lapeer Main Street Downtown Development
Authority Director James Alt said work is roughly “two-thirds” complete on the project that will see custom engraved stone pav-ers, stone-sculpted seating, a stage area and lighting features between the PIX Theatre and Burke’s Flowers on Nepessing Street.
“The engraved pavers are all installed, the stage area is close to being done,” he
said. “Any time the weather has allowed, they’ve been down there working on it.” Alt said he estimates two-to-three weeks left of work still yet to be done, and it’s entirely dictated by weather how much of that work will be completed before the new year. At any rate, some work will have to wait until spring, like the iron fencing that will be installed along the
street front as well as some “soft-scape” elements, like greenery.
Alt said “as soon as we have an idea of when it will be finished” he’ll plan a cel-ebration and ribbon cutting to unveil the park officially. “It’s hard to say, that’s the big challenge,” he said. “They know how much work is left but it depends on Michigan weather.”
Sister’s Christmas Catechism returns to PIX Theatre for performances in Dec.
Despite cold weather, work on new pocket park continues
