Lab3:CellularRespirationCellrespirationreferstotheprocessofconvertingthechemicalenergyoforganicmoleculesintoaformimmediatelyusablebyorganisms.Glucosemaybeoxidizedcompletelyifsufficientoxygenisavailableandissummarizedbythefollowingreaction:

𝐶𝐶"𝐻𝐻$%𝑂𝑂" + 6𝑂𝑂% 𝑔𝑔 → 6𝐶𝐶𝑂𝑂% 𝑔𝑔 + 6𝐻𝐻%𝑂𝑂 + 𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑒𝑔𝑔𝑒𝑒

Allorganisms,includingplantsandanimals,oxidizeglucoseforenergy.Often,thisenergyisusedtoconvertADPandphosphateintoATP.Itisknownthatpeasundergocellrespirationduringgermination.Dopeasundergocellrespirationbeforegermination?Usingyourcollecteddata,youwillbeabletoanswerthisquestionconcerningrespirationandnon-germinatedpeas.UsingtheCO2GasSensor,youwillmonitorthecarbondioxideproducedbypeasduringcellrespiration.Bothgerminatedandnon-germinatedpeaswillbetested.Afteryourpreliminaryinvestigation,youwillinvestigatehowvariousfactorsmayinfluencetherateofcellularrespiration.
