Our  Kindergarten  Program  Learning  occurs  through  multisensory  play  in  centers,  small  and  large  group  experiences,  songs,  workbooks,  and  stories.  The  Potter’s  House  @  FBC  uses  a  combination  of  curricula  including  Handwriting  Without  Tears,  Virginia  Standards  of  Learning,  and  internally  developed  plans.

These  wonderful  resources  teach:

Enrollment  The  program  runs  on  a  September  -‐  May  schedule.  Early  admission  for  the  next  year  is  offered  to  FBC  members  and  families  of  currently  enrolled  students.  General  admission  to  the  public  opens  in  February.  Once  general  registration  opens,  all  applications  are  accepted  on  a  first-‐received  basis.  A  non-‐refundable  $65  registration  fee  must  accompany  application  forms.  Legal  proof  of  birth  must  be  presented  for  witness  in  the  office  when  you  return  the  application.  Every  child  is  REQUIRED  BY  LAW  to  have  a  complete  physical  if  he/she  has  not  had  one  within  one  year  of  the  beginning  of  school  in  September.  The  enclosed  medical  form  must  be  signed  by  your  physician  and  returned  to  the  office  prior  to  the  beginning  of  school.  You  are  responsible  for  making  sure  that  your  child  has  had  the  required  immunizations.  In  accordance  with  state  regulations,  a  child  will  not  be  admitted  to  class  unless  this  form  is  on  file.  Families  will  be  notified  of  acceptance  in  late  March.  If  a  child  cannot  be  placed  in  a  class,  the  applicant  will  be  notified  and  offered  waiting  list  status.

Your  child  will  experience  a  smaller  classroom  size  which  provides  an  opportunity  for  a  more  personalized  approach  to  learning.  There  is  an  expectation  of  appropriate  and  respectful  behavior  and  our  team  will  make  every  effort  to  help  each  child  have  a  successful  year.  However,  if  it  is  determined  that  your  child  will  not  benefit  from  our  Kindergarten  program  your  child  may  be  moved  to  the  preschool  program  if  age  and  space  allow.    We  will  work  with  your  child  to  learn  and  grow  to  their  fullest  potential.  Families  will  also  be  given  information  on  how  to  present  your  child’s  achievement  to  the  public  school  system.  Our  team  will  offer  a  strong  experience,  however,  admission  into  first  grade  is  not  guaranteed.  We  are  committed  to  providing  a  solid  foundation  to  your  child’s  education  built  with  Christian  love  and  healthy  habits.
