To provide a global infrastructure
for the continued growth and
development of modern Kadampa
Buddhism, Venerable Geshe Kelsang
Gyatso Rinpoche founded the
International Temples Project (ITP).
The scope and activities of the ITP are constantly evolving in response to the needs of the ever-changing demands of busy lives. It presently achieves its aim through developing and building traditional and non-traditional temples, meditation and retreat centres,
and through the activities of World Peace Cafés and Tharpa Publications. Venerable Geshe-la's vision is to create a temple in every city throughout the world. That vision is increasingly becoming a reality as each year sees the opening of more temples.
Five-tiered Design for the New Temples
Under the auspices of the International Temples Project (ITP), a number of new traditional style temples are now planned for various locations around the world. These new temples are being
constructed using a new five-tiered design. The IKRC Grand Canyon Temple is scheduled to open in 2019.

In this practical guide to the Buddhist path, Venerable Geshe-la, as he is affectionately known, gives a special presentation of the essential practices of Buddha's teachings of both Sutra and Tantra. Based on his deep experience gained from a lifetime spent in meditation, and inspired by the unsurpassed teachings of Je Tsongkhapa and the oral instructions of the Ganden Emanation Scripture, the author gives personal advice from his heart on how to make our human life meaningful, to learn how to be happy all the time and to solve our daily problems of anger, uncontrolled desire, ignorance and so forth.
Using a mirror we can improve our physical qualities, and using the mirror of Dharma we can improve our inner qualities by developing cherishing love for all living beings, compassion for all living beings and loving kindness for everyone until we attain the ultimate good quality of enlightenment.
This practical guide includes:
• Essential insights on the advice from Je Tsongkhapa's heart called The Three Principal Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment
• How we can use the Request to the Lord of All Lineages prayer to contemplate and meditate on all the stages of the path of both Sutra and Tantra
• How to train in the meditation practice of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion
• A special presentation of the practice of the stages of the path to enlightenment, known as Lamrim

WORLDWIDE FESTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS
GLIMPSES OF WORLD PEACE
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche inaugurated an extensive annual programme of major events in modern Kadampa Buddhism consisting of International and National Festivals, and National and Regional Dharma Celebrations.
These popular events, which include empowerments, teachings, meditations and short retreats with senior teachers, are suitable for all levels of experience and everyone is welcome to them.
At these events we meet with like-minded people from many different countries and cultures. We can see for ourselves how
everyone in the modern world can benefit practically from Buddha’s teachings, and how easy it is to integrate them into our everyday life.
On these occasions we have a glimpse of Venerable Geshe-la’s vision of world peace that leaves us with a deep conviction that world peace is really possible.

By sincerely practising Kadam Lamrim we can make our life happy and meaningful, temporarily solve our human problems and
ultimately find pure and everlasting happiness through controlling our anger, attachment, jealousy, and especially our ignorance. These teachings are the perfect preparation for receiving the Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments in Part 2.
When we completely purify our mind through Tantric practice, our world, our self, our enjoyments and our activities also become
completely pure – this is the state of enlightenment. Attaining enlightenment is therefore very simple; all we need to do is apply effort to purifying our mind through training in Highest Yoga Tantra.

Gen-la Thubten will show how, by integrating the essential teachings of the Heart Sutra into Tantric practice we can ripen our Buddha nature and attain complete enlightenment.
Through the empowerment of Buddha Amitayus we will receive the blessings of long life, wisdom and merit.
Then through practising the teachings on The New Eight Steps to Happiness, Gen-la Khyenrab will explain how we
can transform our life into a deeply meaningful spiritual path that leads to the ultimate attainment of long life - full enlightenment.

INTERNATIONAL RETREAT CENTRES
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche emphasizes the importance of retreat for taking Buddha’s teachings to heart and gaining authentic spiritual realizations.
For this purpose he has encouraged the development of International Retreat Centres (IRCs) around the world.
The International Temples Project is actively developing these centres in many countries and has already established them in Germany, USA, Switzerland, Spain and Brazil, with many more planned for the future.
'In retreat we can change our normal, ordinary intention, view and action through our own power by controlling our own mind.'

COMMERCIAL SPACESBringing Dharma to the heart of the community - meditation classes where you live and work
As this project rapidly expands, people from every continent are able to enjoy the benefits of modern Kadampa Buddhist Centres where they live and work.
These innovative centres offer a range of programmes from lunchtime and after-work meditations to regular evening classes and day courses.
They also provide a community focus for local people including families and children.
