Sock sorting and matching
Items needed: basket and old socks
Give the child a basket of different kinds of socks and have child sort and match the socks to make pairs
6. Space
We Going on A Bear Hunt
Items needed: The song Bear Hunt
Play the song Bear Hunt. Then let class act out the
song by going act if the going across the bridge, climbing up a tree, going through the cave and etc.
2. Numbers
Numbers Grab Bag
Items needed: index cards, paper bag, and pennies for counters
Write numbers 1-10 into index cards, fold index cards and place the folded cards in to the brown paper bag . Let child pick number from
bag and have child count out the amount of pennies for that number.
7. Part/Whole
What is Missing
Items needed: toys with missing parts(ex. Car, truck, doll, etc.)
Show the child each toy and see if child could tell you what is missing.
3. Classifying
Sink or Float
Items needed: a collection of all kind of objects made from different materials
Ask students which objects would flow in water and which ones would sink in water. Fill the water table with water and place each object
one at a time in water to see which objects floated and which ones sink. Made a chart to show your findings.
8. Ordering
Fruit Loop Necklaces
Item need: yarn and fruit loops cereal.
First have child sort the cereal in colors and then you string a pattern on yarn and ask child to create the same pattern.
4. Comparing
The Three Bears
Items needed: The book The Three Bears, three bowls(big, middle , same) chairs(big, middle, small).
Read the book The Three Bears and have bowls and chairs and ask child to tell me which one is the biggest , which one is the middle size
which is the smallest. Then ask which one should be Papa‘s, Mama‘s, and baby’s bear.
9. Measurement
Human Weight Scale
Items needed: a collection of all kinds of objects(ex. Water bottle, feather, rock, etc.)
Ask a child to hold one item in each hand. Ask the the child questions like which one is heavier, the larger ,the lightest, etc.
5. Shape
Shape Grab and Feel Bag
Items needed: block shapes, bag
Put a block shapes in a cloth bag. Let student reach into bag and feel the shape and guess what shape is in the bag.
10. Graphing
Favorite Color
Items needed: white butcher paper and a black marker and colors
Ask the class which is the best color. Ask each students which color is their favorite. Graph each child favorite color. Then ask the class
which color is the most favorite of the class and which color is the lest favorite of the class.
