It is with great pleasure that we present you this issue of our department E-Newsletter. This
academic term witnessed a smooth completion of all the activities well in time. The depart-
ment has submitted the NBA compliance report on January 06, 2020 for reaccreditation by
NBA. The Department has established a Centre of Excellence, supported by M/s. Toyota Kir-
loskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., Bidadi, to help students get hands-on training in modern automobile
technology. We do encourage students to use the newsletter as a platform to showcase their
talents by contributing articles in the forthcoming issues.

Inauguration of JSSATE-TOYOTA Centre of Excellence
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has signed an MoU with M/s. Toyota Kirloskar Mo-
tor Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. As a part of the MoU, the company has donated two engines and
transmission systems. These systems are prepared into cut sections to have a real experience
of how an engine and the transmission system work. The students of our department will be
benefitted by this centre to a greater extent.
The centre was inaugurated on 22nd
November 2019, at 11 am by Mr. Kiran H J., Manager-

Parent – Teacher Meet
The Department organized a Parent-Teacher meeting on Saturday, 16th November, 2019.
The main objective of the meeting is to create a common platform, where teacher and par-
ents come together to enrich the student’s educational experiences and discuss various is-
sues, regarding overall development of the students.

Induction Program
The induction programme was conducted for the newly admitted students to the first year
B. E., program from 08 August, 2019, to 14 August, 2019. The objective of the program is to
familiarize students with the campus environment and physical facilities, and to create an
atmosphere that minimizes anxiety, promotes positive attitudes towards learning.
Sessions were on Personality development, Universal human values, Time management, Decision making, Leadership qualities, Event management, Entrepreneurship activities, Physical activities, soft skills, place-
ment and literary activities.
The Department conducted an academic audit on July 30, 2019,
through an external academic member Dr. Rammohan Y S,
Professor, BMSCE, Bengaluru.
• All the faculty members of the department have participated in a hands on session on ‘Virtual Labs” in association with NITK, Surathkal, on 13 December, 2019.
• The three new faculty members, Mr. M N Bharath, Mr. R Dilip Kumar and Mr. Kalmeshwar U have joined the department for the academic year 2019-20.
• Invited talk on “Nanomaterials”, on September 19, 2019 for II
year students by Dr. Joel Hemanth, Regius Professor, and Asso-
ciate Dean, Presidency University, Bengaluru.
• Invited talk on "Career Building Using CAD/CAE Tools”, on No-
vember 05, 2019 for II, III, IV year students by Mr. Rakesh
Nayak from Dassault Systems, Bengaluru.
• Guest lecture on "Biomass and Gasifier Stove”, on September
