Why Barcamp Nonprofits?

During the Institute of Fundraising National Convention 2010 Howard Lake, Steve Bridger and Sylwia Presley shared their insights on the current state of social media for 3rd sector in the UK.

It became apparent that there is a huge gap between developments in social media and ways nonprofits adapt new technologies in their activities. Barcamp Nonprofits aims to provide a bridge between the two industries!

Why barcamp?

We think that barcamp, or ‘un-conference’ is a great, tested format for events aiming to bring people together around various topics in very informal, supportive and collaborative environment.

What is a barcamp?

“Barcamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment” (http://barcamp.org/)

Barcamp allows everyone to contribute, network and promote their ideas.
