*Counselor splits are determined at the start of the year and vary based
on enrollment numbers.
Grade level classification
Students are classified based on the year they first entered 9th grade
and the number of academic credits they have earned at the beginning
of the school year.
The The FHSP + Endorsement requires a total of 26 credits.
Class rank
Class rank is based on the cumulative grade point average of high school credit courses. A student’s grade point average is derived by dividing the total number of grade points by the number of semester courses attempted.
Class rank is first officially calculated during the SPRING semester of the JUNIORyear and is updated after each subsequent semester.

State End-of-Course testing
requirements
The following 5 end-of-course (EOC) assessments are required:
English I - Reading & Writing (administered as one test)
English II - Reading & Writing (administered as one test)
Algebra I
Biology
US History
The student must pass each of the five EOC assessments to meet state
graduation requirements.
The Course Selection Process:
What to Do Right NowCounselors visit classrooms this week :
Each student received :
a Course catalog and Course selection sheet according to their grade classification:
-- Green: 9th grade
-Purple: 10th grade
-Blue: 11th grade
-Reminder: Parent and student contact information and a parent signature is required on the course selection sheet.
Counselors will collect course selection sheets during their one on one meeting with your child on their teachers designated day.
The Course Selection Process
Counselors will be meeting with students through English classes. The course selection window
is:

-Parent Signature is required.
-Recommendation from current teacher will assist
with placement in Math, Science and PreAP/AP
courses.
-Verification sheets of courses selected will be
distributed on March 21st.
Choosing courses
for next year• Students must be mindful of their endorsement plan.
• Choose core (required) courses and enough courses from
other areas to complete seven full class periods.
• If one course marked (sem) is selected, a second (sem) course is
also required.
• Review the course catalog when making course selections.
• List alternate choices in the spaces provided.
• Course selection sheets should be completed by:
• 11th: January 29th
• 10th: February 3rd
• 9th: February 17th
• The student will meet with the school counselor to review
credits and finalize course selections.
Important Timelines & Information
1. Course Selection Window Jan. 30- March 3rd beginning with current
11th graders.
2. Verification Sheets will be due to the counseling office on March 23rd.
3. Miller Applications priority deadline is March 3rd.
4. Dual Credit Meeting
5. Students must turn in their verification sheets. (even if no corrections are
changes are needed.)
