THE FMF WAYFor over 45 years, Flemington Midget Football has provided instruction and support to thousands
of successful athletes. During that time, we have developed a unique culture, based around five
core beliefs that guide everything we do. “The FMF Way”, is what al lows us to successful ly
develop our athletes physical ly, mental ly and emotionally while providing them with positive
experiences and memories that wil l last a l ifetime. THE FMF WAY is:
FAMILYOnce a member, always a member
SAFETYAthlete safety first, last & always
TEACHINGCoaching is teaching
TEAMWEC not me
SUCCESSShare the work, share the reward
Team success is a by-product of coaches developing every athlete to their personal potential as
they progress through the program. Good teams become great when coaches view practice as an
opportunity to help their athletes grow and develop and when athletes view practice as an
opportunity to maximize their contribution to the team.
No one can win by themselves. We all have to trust and rely on each other for the team to be
successful. Both coaches & athletes must be prepared to do whatever is necessary for the good of
the team. Great teams are built on Teamwork, Dedication, Effort and Trust. . . lessons that wil l help
our athletes succeed in sports and in l ife.
I t is every coach’s responsibi l ity to teach the fundamental ski l ls and strategies of their sport to ALL
of their athletes. I t is every athlete’s responsibi l ity to put forth the effort to learn. I f an athlete gives
the effort, coaches must do whatever is necessary to help them learn and improve. Athletes that
progress through our program giving honest effort WILL enter high school with a competitive
advantage in skil ls and tactics
The health and safety of our athletes comes before everything else. Parents trust us with their
chi ldren; we must do everything in our power to return them safely. Athletes must let their coach
know if they are injured and must not return to action unti l they are ful ly ready.
Whenever an athlete competes as a Pioneer or Jr. Red Devil , they join a long tradition of
excellence. Many have come before us; we must honor their work by our actions. Many wil l come
after us; we must provide them with a program to be proud of. Once an athlete becomes part of
our FMF family, they wil l forever be welcome here.

TRYOUT
Flemington Midget Football is a 501 (c)3 organization dedicated to improving the youth of Hunterdon Countythrough competitive Football and Cheer. One of the oldest youth football organizations in the area, from our
founding in 1 967 through 201 0, FMF teams were exclusively known as the Flemington Pioneers. Since 2009, wehave undergone tremendous growth and have reclaimed our original name of FMF. In 2009, we added our
extended season competition cheer team. In 201 0, with the addition our Hunterdon Jr. Red Devils teams, ourfootbal l offerings were expanded from four football teams participating in one league to ten football teamsparticipating in three leagues. In 201 3 we were able to offer, for the first time, an Extended Season Cheer
Training Squad for girls who were either too young or not yet prepared for the rigors of our Extended SeasonComp. Team. Thoughout al l of our recent growth, we have worked hard to stay true to our guiding principles ,"The FMF Way", and maintain our position as the premier youth football and cheer program in the central
Hunterdon region.

LETTERFROM
THEEDITORFMF Family,
I would l ike to take this opportunity to personally thank the 201 4 Pioneer JV football team fortheir effort this season. Though they didn't win one game, it was one of the most inspiringseasons I 've witnessed in my nine years with FMF. Regardless of their record, the 201 4Pioneer JV team embodied the type of "high-character" teams we strive to create at FMF.The effort that they put forth week-in and week-out set an example that al l future FMFteams should strive to match.
For those who don't know, the team started the season with only 1 6 players, many of themfirst-year players. At times, due to injuries, the team suited up only 1 2 players for gamesand practiced with even fewer. Every week, they went into gameday outnumbered andoutgunned but they always fought from the kickoff to the final whistle. For them, it wasn'tabout wins and losses, it was about loving to play football with, and for, their teammates.
I t would have been very easy for them to quit on football at any point (they were eliminatedfrom playoff contention early in the season). They could have decided to get a head start ontheir lacrosse or basketball or wrestl ing seasons, but they didn't. They understood themeaning of teamwork and commitment.
They came to practice. . .They ran the laps. . .They did the push-ups. . .They fought through the bumps, the bruises and the pain. . .
al l just to have an opportunity to learn, to improve, and to play football as part of a team.
I 'm sure everyone would have liked to win more, but they understood that footbal l is aboutmore than wins and losses, more than bragging rights around town, more than a plastictrophy. They played football for their teammates and for their coaches, but it was clear thatthey played most of al l because they LOVED the game.
The dedication, commitment, and togetherness that the coaches and athletes showed in theface of adversity reminds me why FMF is a special program. I t reinforces to me why FMF isthe area's premier program since 1 967, and reassures me that it wil l continue to remain thatway going forward.
Sincerely,
Craig TorresInterim PresidentFMF Magazine EditorFlemington Midget FootballHome of the Flemington Pioneers and the Hunterdon Jr. Red Devils

PIONEER VARSITYPioneer Varsity Dream Season Comes to an End
Every story has an end, and the Flemington Pioneer
Varsity's dream season was no exception. The fourth seeded
Pioneers came into Sunday's semi-final contest against the
top-seeded Washington Township Panthers riding an
improbable three game win streak and brimming with
confidence. After jumping out to an early lead and pushing the
heavily favored Panthers deep into the fourth quarter, the
Pioneers hopes for a WCMFL championship came to an end
on a cold, windswept field in the hil ls of northwest New Jersey
with a 33-20 loss.
The Pioneer offense, which came into the game
averaging over 30 points during their recent three game
win streak, continued their torrid pace by scorching the
Panther defense for more points than any other opponent.
Justin Torres wasted no time extending his consecutive-
game touchdown pass streak to seven, tossing the first of
his three touchdown passes on the third play of the game.
On third and long, Torres found his favorite target, brother
Brian Torres, on a crossing pattern near midfield. Brian
shook a defender, exploded past the defense to the end
zone, and just l ike that, the Pioneers had a 6-0 lead.
The Panther offense answered, led by All-League running back Sean Morris, scoring
quickly to knot the game at 6-6. As the early-game fireworks settled, both defenses took over and
turned the game into a slugfest. The Pioneer Swarm defense led by Wil l iam Markey, Joey
Whalen, Pasquale Vizzoni and Kareem Salam played with ferocity, holding the high-powered
Panther offense in check. An RJ Thornton interception thwarted a potential Panther drive and the
first quarter ended with the score knotted at six points apiece.
On the first play of the second quarter, the
Pioneers struck. This time Torres found his second
touchdown target on a highl ight-reel play. Dropping
back and rol l ing left to avoid the blitzing Panther
defense, Torres got a block from Colin Campbell and
reversed field Johnny Manziel-style, outrunning
Panther defenders unti l he found Thornton in the right
corner of the end zone, putting the Pioneers up 1 2-6.
The Pioneer defense slowed the Panther
offense with gang tackles led by Dan Furmato, Jake
McPherson, Anthony Dempsey, and Jordan Cameron,

PIONEER VARSITYbut they couldn't stop it. The Panthers
methodical ly drove down the field and tied the
score at twelve. For the third week in a row, the
Pioneers were snake bit by a big play as the first
half expired. This time, a blanketed Morris out-
jumped two Pioneer defenders in the back of the
end zone, sending the Pioneers into halftime
down 1 9-1 2.
The third quarter was best described as the Panther's running game against the Pioneer
Swarm defense. Again and again, Morris slammed into the Pioneer defense. Again and again he
was turned back by a wall of defenders. Final ly, the wall cracked and the Panthers opened a 25-
1 2 lead.
Undaunted, the Pioneers fought back in the fourth quarter, advancing the ball with Furmato
crashing through the Panther defense behind the bone-jarring
blocks of Jeff Anderson, Ryan Donovan, Vincent Tozzi and
Dylan Campbell . Torres found Thornton again for his third, and
Thornton's second, touchdown of the day. Thornton caught the
ball on the left side, broke several tackles, spun, then tiptoed
down the sidel ine for a 31 -yard score. Furmato's extra point
kick was true and closed the gap to five with the score now 25-
20 deep in the fourth quarter. That would be as close as they
would get, however, as super-back Sean Morris broke free for a
45-yard touchdown gallop to cap the scoring and put an end to
the Pioneers' improbable dream season.

On 11 /1 , the Hunterdon Junior Red Devils
hosted the Del Val Junior Terriors in Skylands varsity
action at Stewart Field. This game marks the final
game of the season for both teams. The game opened
with the JRD receiving the kickoff that went to the end
zone and was spotted at the 20. On 1 st down, Terry
Murphy, returning from injury, took Luke Pizzico's
handoff and ran for 4 yds to the 24. Next down,
Murphy again with a run to the 28. On 3rd down, Luke
Bakerian was stopped for no gain. The JRD was
forced to punt, but the snap was short and Pizzico chased the ball back to the 6, but it was
recovered by DelVal at the 6, giving them 1 st and goal. But the JRD defense led by Bakerian, Tim
Hough, Jason Cozzi, and Mike Sposato up front and the l inebacking crew of Murphy, Pizzico,
Christian Callahan and Jaiden Taylor and the
secondary of Brad Totten, Max Kurdlya and Chris
Schwoerer stopped DV short of the goal and forced a
field goal attempt. The kick was short and the JRD
got the ball back at their 20. On 1 st down, Schwoerer
gained 2 to the 22. Murphy then broke a nice run to
the 35, but was called back on a penalty. On 2nd and
1 3 from the 1 7, Murphy had a short gain to the 1 9.
Pizzico's pass attempt was incomplete and the JRD
again were forced to punt. Pizzico's punt landed at
the JRD 40, where it went out of bounds. Again, Del Val had trouble moving against the JRD
defense which was bolstered with added help from Jake Saracinel lo and Thomas Krause. Del Val
punted on 4th down to Schwoerer who took the punt at the 1 4 and returned it up to the 22. On 1 st
down, Pizzico, getting good protection from the front l ine of Nick McClel lan, Kurt Rainey, Sposato,
Cozzi, Alex Sias and Chris Lalas, fired an incomplete pass just out of Callahans reach. Next, a
penalty moved the ball back to the 1 7. Murphy then gained 11 to the 28 as the quarter ended.
The second quarter opened with the JRD starting from their own 28. Bakerian charged
ahead for a gain of 1 3 and a first down at the 41 . A penalty against the JRD resulted in a loss of 5
yds. Bakerian took the handoff and gained 7 to the 43. Murphy
ran across into DelVal territory to the 41 . On 2nd down, Murphy
got to the 36 and the next play, a run to the 31 for another 1 st
down. Schwoerer then ran for 3 yds to the 28. Bakerian gained 4
and then Murphy, with another great run, got down to the 11 . Two
more runs by Murphy and a short gain by Bakerian to the 4, setup
a Pizzico pass to Callahan in the end zone for the score.
Schwoerer's extra point was good and the JRD had an 8-0 lead.
DelVal returned the kickoff up to their 35. DelVal was stopped

again by the JRD defense and were forced to punt and the JRD took over at their 35. On 1 st
down with time running out in the half, Pizzico hit Schwoerer with a pass good for 30 yds to the
DelVal 35. On the final play of the half, Pizzico tried another pass that went incomplete.
The 3rd quarter started with the JRD kicking to DelVal who returned to their 40. Unable
to move against the stubborn JRD defense, DelVal turned over the ball on downs to the JRD at
the DelVal 42. On 1 st down, Bakerian ran for 6 yds to the 36. Murphy then got 4 more to the
32 and a 1 st down. Schwoerer picked up 5 to the 27. On 2nd down, Schwoerer took it the rest
of the way for a 27 yd score. The extra point was no good and the JRD went up by a score of
1 4-0. DelVal recovered the kickoff at their 33. DelVal put together their best drive of the night
moving down to the JRD 37. But, as they had done throughout the game, the JRD defense
stopped the drive and took over at the 37. On 1 st down, Bakerian ran to the 40 and Murphy
took it to the DelVal 46 . The 3rd quarter ended.
The 4th quarter opened with a couple runs by Murphy down to the 1 6, but a 4th down
penalty declined by DelVal gave them the ball at the 1 6. A short drive by DelVal was stopped at
the DelVal 37. Nearing the end of the game, the JRD coaches substituted the l inemen in the
backfield. On first down, Hough got things going with a nice
run to the 25. Up next, Cozzi ran for 1 3 more to the 1 2. Next,
it was Lalas who got a yard to the 11 . Then Saracinel lo nearly
got into the end zone, but was stopped at the 1 . Final ly, to
finish things off, Sposato took the hand off on the last play of
the game in for a score, giving the JRD a 20-0 victory in the
last game of the season.
Even though the JRD missed the playoffs, it was sti l l a
successful season for a fine group of players who never quit and played hard right to the last
play of the season. This spirit and dedication can be attributed to the wonderful coaching staff
who guided them along throughout the season. The staff of Georgio Vuolde, Ken Dicicco,
Scott Hough, Mathew Joyce, Tom McClel lan, Scott Mallory, Chris LaGullo, Ron Totten and Ken
Pizzico deserve a big thank you from the players and parents for their dedication and tireless
work this season. Take a well earned break gentlemen, the 201 5 season wil l be here before
you know it.

The Jr. Red Devils ("JRD") PEEWEES took on a tough Del Val team this weekend at home at
the Hunterdon Central High School field. On their first possession, the JRD moved the ball 1 9 yards
before they were forced to punt it to Del Val. Del Val then moved the ball 33 yards downfield. Brian
Dempsey broke up a pass, which forced Del Val to punt the ball .
The JRD were unable to advance the ball downfield on their 2nd possession and were forced
to punt the ball . Del Val then ran a sweep right for 35 yards for a touchdown giving them a 6-0 lead.
Del Val then added an extra point making it 7-0.
On their next possession, Cole Gray, Zachary Ghanim and Joey Valentino advanced the ball
for a first down. The Jr. Red Devils then punted the ball to Del Val. Del Val then drove the ball down
the field. Jacob Tocci and Jakob Saus stopped the Del Val bal l carriers behind the l ine of
scrimmage for a loss. Despite these great defensive plays, Del Val was able to move the ball
downfield for a touchdown, giving them a 1 3-0 lead.
The JRD Defense played great in the second half. They did not let up any more scores. The
JRD Defense was led by Jacob Tocci, Connor Gray, Mateo Brito, Bennett Cayero, Wil l iam Cella,
Zachary Ghanim, Evan Amato, Jakob Saus, Joey Valentino, Jorden Craddock, Wyatt Ditzel, Cole
Gray, Brian Dempsey, Tommy Brunetti and Jack Brunetti . The JRD forced Del Val to punt the ball on
their first two possessions in the second half. On their third possession, Evan Amato recovered a
Del Val fumble. In the second half, Wil l iam Cella, Cole Gray, and Joey Valentino stopped the Del Val
bal l carriers behind the l ine of scrimmage, forcing Del Val to punt the ball to the JRD.
The Jr. Red Devils were able to move the ball downfield in the second half. The running
backs received great blocks from Shane Sull ivan, Daniel Reina, Evan Amato, Bennett Cayero,
Jacob Tocci, Zachary Ghanim, Wyatt Ditzel, Walter Ditzel and Kevin Li. Unfortunately, penalties
and turnovers prevented them from punching the ball into the end zone. Joey Valentino completed
a 1 7 yard pass to Wil l iam Cella. Tommy Brunetti led al l runners with 32 yards on the ground.
Connor Gray averaged 7 yards per carry and Zachary Ghanim averaged 5 yards per carry. Brian
Dempsey, Joey Valentino, Wil l iam Cella, Jakob Saus, Cole Gray and Jorden Craddock also carried
the ball for the JRD.
The Jr. Red Devils suffered their second loss of the season with a final score of 1 3-0. The Jr.
Red Devils finished the season with a record of 6-2-1 . The JRD were 4th out of 1 6 teams in points

JAMES L. "JIMMY" WILSONOur Number One Fan
Jimmy Wilson left a lasting memory with everyone who visited Pioneer Field throughout the 1 980's and early1 990's. While his wheelchair kept him from taking part on the field, it couldn't keep him from being part of theteam. At the end of every summer, l ike the changing of the seasons, Jimmy was there to usher in footbal l
season. He was as much a part of the Pioneer family as the crack of pads echoing through the crisp autumn airand the roar of the crowd on game day. For close to a decade, Jimmy never missed a game, indeed, he nevermissed a practice in al l of his time with us. His love for the game and for the team was infectious and wil l be
forever remembered. In 1 994, after his passing, the organization recognized Jimmy's contribution to our familyby naming the playing field after him and retiring the number one jersey, in memory of their #1 fan.
JOSEPH YASHKAS6/4/85 - 4/29/00 : Forever a Pioneer
Joey Yashkas was a Pioneer through and through. He played football for the program and was a greatteammate and a key member of the team from his peewee days through his eigth grade season. As much ashe loved football and his teammates, Joey also loved racing motorcycles. I t was this love that took Joey from usfar too soon. After the tragic motorcycle accident that took his l ife in 2000, the organization retired his number55 and decreed that in remembrance of Joey and Jimmy, their numbers 1 and 55 be painted in the corner of the
endzone for every home game so that they wil l always be part of our family.
