Is It Fine to Buy Second Hand
Motorcycles?
One of the things people use to determine whether a certain item is worth the purchase is the
price of the item. Although it can never be denied that quality is a prime measurement, the
price also does matter. And when it comes to price issues, some people prefer the huge
discounts which can be readily enjoyed with second hand items. For the motorcycle’s specific
case, the same is quite true. In fact, in some motorbike finance agencies, the option of getting
used bikes is often clicked many times more than the option on getting brand new vehicles.
But, is it really much more beneficial to buy second hand bikes? Aren’t there disadvantages as
well?
Apparently, you need to have concrete answers to the above questions.
Large Discounts with a Few Risks
In order to identify how advantageous getting second hand motorbikes can be, it would be very
well to investigate the truthfulness of the claims made for it. One of these claims says that
second hand vehicles can be obtained at large discounts with only a few risks. The risks
simply refer to the differences in quality between the used and the brand new unit. If, for
example, the used unit is just as good as the brand new one, then the risk is quite small—if not
totally absent. If, however, the used unit is only about 75% as good as the brand new, then the
buyer has risked 25% quality.
Even the validity of the claim for enjoying large discounts may also depend on individual
cases. For instance, the buyer gets the second hand motorcycle in cash. This, of course,
secures for him the enjoyment of the large discount. If he chooses to get the unit through
motorcycle finance, then he may still be paying for a total amount that will equal the price of a
brand new bike. The larger total payment would be attributed to the interests that top up the
principal amount.
Of course, in the case that Yamaha finance gives out a promo which highlights zero interest
rates for all second hand motorcycles, that news would be defying all the negatives against the
claim that second hand units can indeed be both economical and high in quality.
Right Appraisal is the Key
No accusation can be rightly thrown against any second hand unit rightly priced. When
planning to acquire a second hand bike through loans, it would be wise for you to assess
which motorbike finance providers very well appraise prices. Again, you will also need to
consider whether the interests topping over the principal price would be reasonable enough;
else, you might want to consider, instead, the direct and full cash out of the item. If that is the
case, then you need to save up from now on until the day you’d finally bring the bike home.
