Interactive Journals
Each student will have an interactive journal.
Using a sharpie marker write your first and last name on the edge of your journal. (Please raise your hand if you need assistance)
Write your first and last name on the front of your composition book.
Unit Tabs
On the first page of your journal you will place a tab on the page. See your sample journal
Write “Table of Contents” on the tab.
Table of contents
The table of content will be the first 3 pages (front and back) pages of your interactive journal.

Tools Tab
On the fourth page of your journal you will place a tab on the page. Write “Tools” on the tab.
Title that page “Tools”
From the “Tool” tab count 10 pages
Unit Tabs
On the 14th page (3 pages for your table of contents and 10 pages for your toolbox) of your journal you will place a tab on the page. Write “Unit 1” on the tab.
Every time we go over a new unit we will create a new tab. Write the title of the Unit on the page
Natural Texas and Its People
You may decorate this page using illustrations that represent the unit. This is something to do if you finish your assignment early.

We will start to glue in the tools you will need to start the school year off.

Follow the example journal on your group’s desk
Binding
Each class will have a designated color of duct tape.
The duct tape will be placed on the binding of you journal.
I will be placing the duct tape on your journals so please leave your journals in class.
Journals
Journals will be stored in class on the bookshelves in the assigned area.
When you come into class, you must get your journal.
At the end of class, place your journal back on the shelf with your name facing out.
You are always welcomed to take your journals home to finish incomplete work or study unless I have asked you to leave your journals in the class so I can grade.
Clean up
Clean off your desk.
Make sure there are stray papers or trash around you.
Place all supplies in the appropriate areas. (storage baskets, baskets, etc.)
You will be dismissed when your area is clean.
