Training for plant operators and entry level instrument mechanics. Topics covered include:process variables, direct-read instruments, elements of a control system, temperature sensors,pressure sensors, level sensors, flow sensors, weight sensors, transmitters, recorders,controllers, final control elements and basic control loops.

Prerequisites - familiarity with the basic principles of physics that apply to the function and use of

process instrumentation (Course Number 49) and sufficient job experience to understand the

diagrams and examples used to explain instrument functions and applications.

Package includes three workbooks (Part I - Introduction, Part II - Sensors & Part III - Control Loops& Their Elements) totaling 30 hours of instruction, plus three multiple choice tests, a jobperformance check list and an Administrator's guide.

This course is used by many community and technical colleges in the process operator and

instrumentation curriculums.
