TNS GLOBAL COOKBOOK PROJECT

About

TNS Global Cookbook Project (TGCP) aims to create an E-book collection of local recipes integrated with virtual water analyses, foodscapes, and snippets of food stories from our international student body.

Goals The purpose is to celebrate the New School's cultural diversity. In addition, TGCP is designed to increase international student engagement on at both the graduate and undergraduate level.going towards student-led food related projects and events.

Information On completion, recipes will be added to The New School’s cafeteria monthly menu and students will have an opportunity to work with the University’s Head Chef to prepare the recipe. A few copies of the cookbook will be available for purchase with all proceeds going towards a fund for student projects relating to food and culture.

TNS Global Cookbook Project was designed by, Jamila Durdygulyyeva (GPIA), and Joshua Caraballo (Media Studies) and De-Ann Abraham (NPM).

GUIDELINES

Fill out the form completely.

For hints on how to fill out the form check out our sample page. Once submitted, each recipe will be reviewed by our team to ensure that it meets the guidelines for recipe submissions (see below).

Recipes that do not meet the guidelines listed below will be rejected. Approved recipes will be included in the cookbook.

Required Information

Release Form needs to be completed, signed and uploaded.

Guidelines for TNS Global Cookbook Recipe Submissions

1. Recipes must include a complete list of ingredients containing accurate measurements for every ingredient.

2. Recipes must include complete step-by-step directions for preparation and cooking along with times, temperatures, etc.

3. Photos of the entire process are encouraged and can include shopping for ingredients at your local market, throughout the preparation and cooking process and of course the finished product. Photos must be copied and pasted into the designated picture section of TGC’s Submission Form. Use a high-resolution photo, if you have a photo of your recipe. (Photos should be at least 300dpi)

4. Recipes must be submitted using TGC’s Submission Form and follow all formatting rules provided on the form.

5. Possible topics for Foodscapes could include one or more of the following:

A. What is the role of food in your culture (family)?

B. What are a few major current food issues in your country or region? For example, draughts can have an effect, the availability of water and its affect on the local food systems, food exports and imports due to political influence can also affect food availability and access.

C. What types of foods are grown in your region and how does that relate to the livelihoods of local community?

D. Are there any local food movements in your region? Please elaborate.

E. Are fresh foods readily available for all? Why, or why not, what are the barriers that keep certain people from accessing food? Please explain.

F. Tell us more about the availability of water or climate change on the eating and spending habits of people in your region.

G. Where does your country get its food, who prepares it, are there cultural rituals around food in your culture/country/ region?

Should you choose to submit a recipe, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Recipes published in TNS- Global Cookbook are attributed to the individual that submitted the recipe.

• The information you disclose will be available to the public, so you should be mindful of personal information and other content you post.

• Your recipe is your original work and has not been copied or reproduced from any published or copyrighted source and trademarked names are not used.

• You grant TNS-Global Cookbook a royalty-free license to edit, publish, create derivative works from, and otherwise use the recipe, at no charge, in any medium and for any purpose.
