As many Educators have already discovered, Apple products such as iPad and iMac offer such a variety of
uses within the learning environment. Many of these uses bring benefits and add real value to both
Educator and Learner alike. The benefits often result in higher levels of engagement and interaction for
both parties.
Apple designs all of its product ranges to be simple, intuitive and engaging, which has resulted in devices
and software that are both easy to use and quick to learn. This design ethos flows through all of Apple’s
products, intentional or not. It goes a long way to aid independent learning. This means less time figuring
out how to make it work and more time being creative and focusing on the end results.
The technology alone won’t change your learning environment. There needs to be a strategy in place
before you rush to the Apple Store and buy a batch of Apple devices. Think about what your end goals
are and build the strategy back from that.

The strategy needs to be clear and concise as there will undoubtedly be challenges to overcome along
the way. These may include integrating with an existing Windows network or keeping all the software up
to date on multiple devices, not to mention all the training needs Educators and Learners may require.
Ensure the strategy is detailed but don’t lose sight of the end goal to create a richer, more engaging
learning environment. Don’t compromise your end goals due to knowledge gaps or resistance from
within your organisation.
It’s clear to see that Apple products, and those of their competitors, are changing the learning
environment landscape for the next generation of Learners.
