1 1 SEP 2018 Swachhata Shapath Day
With great zeal and enthusiasm, the
‘Inaugural function’ of Swachhata
Pakhwada started in Sainik school,
Korukonda, Vizianagaram, Andhra
Pradesh, on 1st September, 2018.
The Inaugural function started
with an introductory speech by
Sri K Jayaprakesh, Librarian.
Entire school took oath
regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
in English.
The importance of cleanliness of
self and the surrounding was
enlighten by Principal Col Rudrax
Atri.
The stress upon cleanliness was
also addressed by Vice-Principal
Wg Cdr CS Bhanuprakash.
All the students of the school and staff
had participated in the programme.

Sep 2018 Swachhata Awareness Day
Vice Principal Wg Cdr CS Bhanuprakash
advised the students to keep the
classes and school premises clean. He
informed the students regarding
benefits of keeping the surroundings
clean.
Inspection of Sanitary Facilities in the
school and making proposal for the
upkeep of the facilities with the help of
supporting staff was carried out.
Cleanliness of the classes and the
surroundings by the students
Arranging dustbins in the school
Around 400 students had participated
in the above programme
3 5 Sept 2018 Green School Drive
Planting of tress in and around school
premises and encouraging children for
gardening
Reuse of waste material
Initiatives to curb green house effect
Removal of waste material like broken
furniture, unusable equipment etc.
from the school premises
Around 200 students had participated
in the above programme

Swachhata Participation Day
Essay competition for students on
cleanliness and hygiene practices was
conducted in the school.
Painting competition was conducted.
Around 100 students had participated
in the above programme.
5 7 Sep 2018 Hand Wash Day
Teaching children about proper
method of hand washing before and
after eating was conducted.
Propagating the theme of the
Pakhwada among the citizens in
nearby areas by teachers and students
in association with local
representative(s)
Reviewing and ensuring barrier free
access to drinking water and toilet
Around 570 students had participated
in the Programme.
6 8 Sep 2018 Personal Hygiene Day
A Lecture by Medical Staff was
conducted on the following.
Motivating students/employees and
others for maintaining cleanliness
Making students learn proper way of
cutting and keeping nails clean
Making students learn impact of
hygiene practices on health
All the students of the school were
participated in the above programme
7 9 and 10 Sep 2018 Community Participation Day
Focus on community participation for
Swachhata Abhiyan in schools and
involving teachers in undertaking
cleanliness awareness drives in nearby
areas was also conducted.
Teaching students about hygienic
manner of using toilets and drinking
water facilities, Checking wastage of
water, Channelling water from hand
washing units into gardens
A part of the school garden was
cleaned by the students with the
help of teachers and conservancy
staff. They removed the weeds and
also watered some plants.
Around 300 students were
participated.
8 11 Sep 2018 Swachhata School Exhibition Day
Display of photographs, paintings,
cartoons, slogans etc. on Swachhata
activities in schools for creating
awareness among the stakeholders.
Making artefacts using local recycled
raw material for storage of waste i.e.
artistic dustbins using local skills and
promoting their culture.
Around 150 students of the school had
participated.
9 12 Sep 2018 Swachh Water Day
The following activities were carried
out.
Checking of water storage.
Community participation for the
Swachhata Abhiyan in school.
Learning of organic/inorganic waste
in water in order to avoid intake of
unsafe water.
Cleaning of water through natural
means i.e. natural sand filters, alum
etc.
Creating awareness on water borne
disease(s) to promote safe drinking
water.
Teaching children about storage of
safe drinking water.
Around 570 students of the school
had participated.
10 13 Sep 2018 Water Harvesting Day
Providing information about water
harvesting to students, Planning and
implementation of simple water
harvesting structures by students and
teachers in school.
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated on
13 – 09 – 2018 in the school with
clay Eco-friendly Ganesh idol.
The students were explained about
proper immersion of Eco-friendly
Ganesh idol, i.e., Immersion of Ganesh
idol, should be done in wells or ponds
or lakes. If Ganesh idols are made
of Plaster of Paris, immersion should
be done in a bucket of water, but
not in water resources, as it would
be harmful for aquatic animals and
human beings.
Around 400 students had participated.
11 14 Sep 2018 Letter Writing Day
Encouraging students to write a letter
to their parents about their learning in
the past few days and what they want
their parents to do in their
neighbourhood.
About 150 students had participated.
12 15 Sep 2018 Prize Distribution Day
Prizes / Certificates are given to the
deserving students who had
participated in the various
competitions organised in the school
as part of the cleanliness drive under
Swachhata Pakhwada ( 1st to 15th
Sep, 2018).
This activity was carried out in the
presence of all the staff and students
of the school.
