Hydrophilicity and contact angle

Excellent wettability

The Virtual Extra Light Body and Light Body materials show low contact angles.

exactly where you need it

Hydrophilic:

V I R T U A LExcellent moisture displacement characteristics

Reliable displacement of moisture ensures an excellent reproduction of fine detail.

The ability of the Virtual ExtraLight Body and Light Bodymaterials to spread readilyinto restricted areas displacing oral fluids trappedthere enables a precise reproduction of fine anatomical details. The result is impressive:impressions of extraordinaryprecision, reproducing remarkable detail around thepreparations.

Unset impression materialshould demonstrate verygood hydrophilic propertiesduring the impression takingprocess, as hydrophilicity isan essential pre-requisite forrecording the very fine detailof the oral hard and soft tissues.Conventional test methodsusually involve the use of setmaterial when determiningthe contact angle with waterand dental stone of dentalimpression materials. Virtual’s compatibility withmoist dentin and gingival tissue has been demonstratedwith unset material in tests simulating clinical conditions.

Competitive impression materials show higher contact angles:on gingival tissue: between 53˚ and 71˚on dentin: between 65˚ and 93˚

Virtual Extra Light Body andLight Body exhibit very lowcontact angles. They spreadeasily and adapt smoothly todentin and moist oral tissue.

Hydrophilicity – theaffinity to water –is an essential feature of theVirtual precisionimpression material. Thus ahigh compatibilitywith moisture isensured exactlywhere you need it:in the oral cavity.

Gingiva: 40˚ / 52˚ Dentin: 50° / 56°

The colours – sea blue for thetray material and caramel forthe wash – have been chosenafter extensive consultationwith many dentists and dental technicians.

The contrasting coloursenhance the readability ofthe impression in every respect.

The sea blue colour of thetray material has a soothingeffect on the eyes of thebeholder. The colour contrastbetween the blue tray material and the caramelwash produces preparationmargins that are very easy to read.

The result is obvious: precision impressions thatoffer excellent readability

Convenient:

V I R T U A L

is convenient towork with and provides the comfort you andyour patientsexpect.

Snap set

Due to the thermosensitivecharacteristics of Virtual, thesetting reaction is acceleratedafter the tray is seated in the patient’s mouth.

This saves valuable time andensures precise impressions, while reducing the risk ofdeformation.

Fresh flavour

Patients will appreciate the reduced time in themouth and the light, freshpeppermint smell of theVirtual impression materials.

Flexible setting times

The setting time is either 2 1/2 minutes (fast set)or, optionally, 4 1/2 minutes (regular set).

features well-balanced physicalproperties

in every respect

Balanced:

Excellent detail reproduction

The combination of thepolymer and innovative, spheroid silicon micro-fillersensures exceptional precision and excellentreproduction of anatomicaldetails.

Outstanding dimensional stability

As Virtual impressions maintain their dimensionalstability for up to two weeks, there is no need to pourmodels immediately. Virtualimpression materials are easyto disinfect and severalmodels can be poured fromone impression.

Superior elastic recovery

Virtual impressions are easyto remove from the patient’smouth and elastically recoverfrom the deformation ofremoval.

High tear strength

The excellent tear resistanceof Virtual reduces the risk oftearing fine margins.

Hardness adjusted to theclinical needs

Final hardness values that increase from Virtual Extra Light Body toVirtual Heavy Body ideallycontribute to achieving goodimpressioning results.

Dependable:

V I R T U A L

has been rated“excellent” by users

“Its (Virtual’s) accuracy, hydrophilicity, and tear strength were considered verygood to excellent. …

It is very accurate, rarely had bubbles, and produced margins that were veryeasy to read with excellent detail.”

Reality Now No. 147, October 2002

“Sixty percent of consultants noted thatVirtual behaved much like a hydrophilicmaterial, displacing moisture and resulting in very accurate impressionswith excellent reproduction of detail. …

Patients appreciated the reduced time inthe mouth as well as the neutral tasteof the material.”
