Why do you need IDoc+ Editor?Each IDoc in SAP represents a document soon to be created. When the IDoc fails, you need to manually examine the IDoc, understand where the error is. The error reason may be described in the IDoc or in SAP log or not be missing. After editing the IDoc on one transaction you will have to go to another transaction to post the IDoc. The challenges in fixing an IDoc are:

• Identify the error in the IDoc with tens or hundreds of segments

• Locate all segments belonging to one line item

• Find the segment with the error data when you know what is wrong

• Moving between transactions to read the errors, edit the IDoc and post the corrected IDoc

• How to delete the IDoc easily?

Since SAP transactions permit the user to inspect only one segment at a time, this task can become very time consum-ing and confusing. All of these steps require the user to understand how each transaction works and to move con-stantly between transactions.

IDoc+ Editor Panes• Control Pane – View the IDoc status, add or remove IDocs from the processing list.

• Structure Pane – See what types of segments are used in your IDoc and what segment you are currently working on.

• Hints Table Pane – The editor suggests where your errors might be. Click on the link to move to that segment.

• Header Segments Pane – View all segments relevant to the document header.

• Line Selector – Select which line item of the document you want to see.

• Line Items Segments Pane - View all segments relevant to the selected document line item.
