The activity I enjoy doing is Martial Arts
Martial Arts
It all started when my parents gave me my first GI and a white belt when I was 7.
I joined a local Karate club and immersed myself in the world of martial arts.
I can practice martial arts in- and outdoors, in good and bad weather, individually and in groups
It develops my physical and mental strength
It helps me to relief stress
It gives me satisfaction
Why do I enjoy Martial Arts
Discipline Martial arts taught me discipline
already at a very young age
It helps to not give up, despite setbacks
It helps to resist distraction and focus on the goals
How it contributes to my personal and professional development
Persistence and determination
I learned to set goals and continuously work hard to reach the goals
I realised that things often do not go as planned, but persistence and
determination helps me to keep moving forward
How it contributes to my personal and professional development
Respect Respect is important in personal as well as in
professional life
Respect improved my team work skills with very diverse
group members
It helps to work along and collaborate with friends and rivals
How it contributes to my personal and professional development
Self-control Martial arts taught me to control my emotions. Self-
control helps me whenever I have to work under stress and in unpleasant situations
Embrace failure I embrace failure. Understanding
criticism helps me to improve on my weaknesses
How it contributes to my personal and professional development
By practicing martial arts I can create a healthy balance between my professional
and personal life.
