How Do We Want to Live Tomorrow?Perspectives on Water Management in Urban Regions
Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina brings together some 1,500 outstanding scientists from about 30 countries. It is dedicated to the advancement of science for the benefit of humankind and to shaping a better future. In its role as the German Na-tional Academy of Sciences, the Leopoldina represents the German scientific community in international committees. It offers unbiased scientific opinions on political and societal questions, publishing independent studies of national and in-ternational significance. The Leopoldina promotes scientific and public debate, supports young scientists, confers awards for scientific achievements, conducts research projects, and campaigns for the human rights of persecuted scientists.

The sustainable use of water resources is essential in order to ensure a liveable environment for future generations. Thus, an innovative and efficient water management plays an important role for the development of urban regions now and for the future.
The panel discussion is part of the workshop “Perspectives on Water Management in Urban Regions”. During the event, Brazilian and German young scientists identify and discuss research topics and questions, which – from their perspecti-ve – are relevant for the future of urban water management. In the panel discussion, the young scientists present their ideas to the panel and the audience, who then discuss the presented concepts in the light of the question „how do we want to live tomorrow?“
