Principal’s Report
Transition Days
Transition programs commenced this week for the Kinder students. The first involved a visit to Hopetoun P-12 College earlier this week for a brief time. This will be followed up with visits by our students to the Kinder and return visits to Hopetoun P-12 College over the coming months. The Year 6 into 7 transition program continued this week with the Year 6 students from St Josephs and surrounding schools visiting us for the day. They joined with our current Year 6 students and had a ‘taster’ Year 7 day.
Parent Survey Closes
The Parent Survey portal closes this Sunday, 27th August. Here’s your last chance to have a say about your school. Nine parents have completed the survey so far. If you haven’t already done so, please take the time to complete the survey. The more responses we get the better the information will be for us to use to plan improvements for 2018 and beyond.
Camps & Trips
We have quite a few students away this week attending various camps and trips. The good news is that all are doing well. The ski trip has been amazing with lots of snow and skiing while the Melbourne group have had a great time. Our students in China have avoided Typhoon Hato, which has struck Hong Kong. Zengcheng, where are students are based, received ‘just a glancing blow’ as they are well away from Hong Kong.
Father’s Day Stall
Father’s Day is fast approaching. The Parents and Friends Club is holding a Father’s Day stall next Thursday, 31st August as Friday is a Cluster sports day in Rainbow. Five dollars will buy a fantastic gift for dad.
Primary Cluster Athletics Day
Athletics is on the agenda over the next few weeks. The primary students have been training for their athletics carnival with the help of the Year 11 Physical Education students. This is all in preparation for the Southern Mallee Cluster sports day which will be held for all primary students on Friday 1st September. Parents are requested to take their children to the sports which will be held at the Rain-bow Recreation Reserve. If wet weather intervenes, the back-up day is Monday 4th September. If the sports are held on Monday 4th, the same day as our pupil-free day, then primary students are ex-pected to attend the sports as normal and an alternative day will be allocated as pupil-free for the primary students and staff.
Pupil-Free Day
Monday 4th September has been designated as a pupil-free day. Teachers will be involved in a series
of planning activities along with information on some initiatives for 2018. The school office will be
open as usual.
Shade Structure
The concreters have begun work on preparing the ground for concreting the shade structure. We are
hoping it will be finished late next week.

Great work Zac.
My Work Experience
On Monday and Tuesday (21st and 22nd of August) I attended work experience at Equip Physiotherapy and Pilates in Horsham. Throughout the two days, I did little jobs around the clinic, observed client sessions and joined in some of the Pilates classes. The two days helped me a lot in terms of knowing what Physiotherapists do and if I want to con-tinue with this certain career path. After this, I believe Physiotherapy would be a career I would enjoy and like to study, yet I will still be looking at other career options as well.
