PARENT TO PARENTA note from Nick & Emily
This past month of Youth Ministry has been quite special. Since the beginning of the new year, we have been focusing on the subject of “Holy Spirit Evangelism.” This is when Christians depend on the Holy Spirit to give them boldness in sharing their faith. We have been teaching on the work of the Holy Spirit, how to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and how to hear from God more clearly. What we have seen in the past month is that many students have applied this concept and have been amazingly filled with the Spirit of God! We have seen a greater boldness in proclaiming the Gospel and edifying those around them in church. There has also been a greater hunger for intimacy with Jesus in our ministry. Please pray that this spiritual fervor remains in our students. We are challenging our students the same way Paul challenges the Ephesians, to “be filled with Spirit.” Here is our teaching on how to be filled with the Spirit. May we all be Spiritually filled this 2020!

Who is Maven?Maven is an organization that is passionate about equipping and training those who are discipling the upcoming generation, people such as parents, grandparents, pastors, educators, etc. Their goal is to come alongside them
to partner, guide, encourage, teach, train and equip with the tools they will need to be able to address the cultural issues of our time in “culturally-savvy and relevant ways, while never compromising the truth of Christ!”
A note from Brandy Corea:One of the key things I learned from MAVEN last year was the reason kids are leaving the church is because they are not getting good answers to their honest questions. Fortunately, they are asking questions! Moreover, they want their parents to be the ones to give them convincing answers. J.W. Wallace encourages us to “be the best apologist your kids will ever meet”.
I was also reminded that truth must be relayed in the context of a trusting relationship. So, I have spent the last year reading books on apologetics and working on the relationship I have with my kids. Then, when the opportunity to speak about real and relevant issues comes up, I can talk intelligently with them.
Lastly, I am working to develop good questions to ask my kids
to help them exercise their minds in critical thinking. This year I am looking forward to new topics and discovering better ways to “navigate the world of screens” rather than just avoiding it all together. I’m praying you will prayerfully consider attending with us.
