This scholarship for a student in Computer Information Systems is for three years, one year at Calhoun and two years at UAH, and includes full tuition, fees, books, a professional and continuing studies allowance, health insurance allowance, and a $22,500 stipend for each school year. The recipient is also provided summer internships and access to a job fair in Washington, D.C. The recipient agrees to work in cybersecurity for a government agency for three years after graduation.

The Alabama Federation for Advancement of Manufacturing Education (F.A.M.E.) is a two-year associate’s degree that combines cutting-edge curriculum, paid work experience, and application of best practices at world class facilities. These students are required to adhere to strict guidelines and stressful environments to achieve a valued real-world experience. Students were trained in day-to-day operations to handle dangerous atmospheres, as well as tense situations during costly downtime operations at each sponsoring facility. These are the students who persevered, met all requirements, and have successfully completed this difficult program.

Top Eleven Most Outstanding Students

RAVEN BAXTER – is a Physical Therapist Assistant major from Huntsville, Alabama. She is currently a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and has served as the 5K race coordinator for the PTA-sponsored race for the last year and a half. Raven is also a member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She is active in her community through her service as a mentor to young girls as a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Raven’s goal is to seek employment at a local hospital, outpatient clinic, or sports/physical fitness facility; however, she eventually wants to become a Director of Rehabilitation. Her GPA is 3.69.
JEREMY BOLES –is a Human Resources major from Somerville, Alabama. He currently serves as Secretary/Senator for SGA in Huntsville, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Calhoun Jazz Band, and has received several Foundation scholarships while attending Calhoun. Jeremy is active in his community through his service as Lead Tenor at New Life Church of Arab’s Praise Ensemble. His goal is to work in a human resources department and help affect the lives of employees as well as employers by placing people in fitting positions. His GPA is 4.0.
KEENON CURRIER – is a History major from Athens, Alabama. He currently serves as the Decatur campus Vice President of Scholarships for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and is a member of the Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society. Keenon is active in his community through his service as a tutor for Learn to Read and as a volunteer for various organizations in Limestone County. His goal is to attend the University of Alabama and earn a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in World History. He would like to participate in excavations throughout the Middle East and Northern India. His GPA is 3.92.
CHRISTINE EVANS – is a General Education major from Ardmore, Alabama. She currently serves as a Warhawk student ambassador for Calhoun and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta honor societies. She is active in her community through volunteering and participating in the American Diabetes Association Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Christine’s goal is to obtain her bachelor’s degree in Earth Systems Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Her ambition is to become a Synoptic or Research Meteorologist and contribute to the development of more advanced weather warning systems. Her GPA is 3.87.
KOREY HARDY – is a Computer Engineering major from Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. He currently serves as President of the Student Government Association at the Huntsville campus and is also an active member of both Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta honor societies. He is one of only two students at Calhoun nominated for the All-USA Academic Team. Korey is active in his community through volunteering at organizations such as Manna House and Huntsville Land Trust. He also likes to tutor his peers in math and science. Korey’s goal is to obtain his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He would also like to use his tutoring skills to help underprivileged kids in overcrowded classrooms by providing one-on-one time with them. His GPA is 3.6.

ANNA MCALPIN – is a General Studies major from Huntsville, Alabama. She is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, serving as an Officer Assistant, and is a founding member of Catholic Campus Ministries. She has received several Foundation Scholarships from Calhoun and is one of only two students at Calhoun nominated for the All-USA Academic Team. Anna is active in her community through serving as a volunteer with her church’s youth ministry and their Vacation Bible School, Manna House, and Huntsville Land Trust. Her goal is to specialize in the area of cardiology through her service as a Physician’s Assistant. Her GPA is 4.0.
LAURA ALEXANDRIA MOYERS – is a Health Care Management major from Athens, Alabama. She is currently a member of the Calhoun Chorale and serves as a section leader. She also takes and teaches violin lessons and is a lifetime member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has received several scholarships to attend Calhoun. Laura is active in her community through her service as a violinist at her church and at weddings. She also volunteers with youth groups and at her local nursing home. Her goal is to attend Athens State to complete her bachelor’s degree and obtain an Associate’s Degree in Sonography from Wallace. Eventually, she hopes to obtain a Music Performance Degree from the University of Alabama. Her GPA is 3.85.
KELSEE NICOLE PROCTOR – is a General Studies major from Danville, Alabama. She is currently an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, and Prime Fellowship. She was selected as Calhoun’s 2016 Most Outstanding Student in Anatomy and Physiology. Kelsee is active in her community through her service as a teacher and volunteer at First Priority of Greater Decatur (a national Christian organization) and Speake Christian Fellowship. Her goal is to become a Registered Nurse and work in the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital, eventually obtain her doctorate degree in Nursing, and then travel the world providing medical care in the mission field. Her GPA is 4.0.
JOHN TRUDELL, IV – is a General Education major from Harvest, Alabama. He currently serves as a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta and is the Treasurer for CASSO. He is active in his community through his participation as a volunteer and instructor for the Boy Scouts of America. He also plays clarinet for the Athens State Community Band, which provides free concerts to the public. John’s goal is to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville to obtain his Computer Science degree. He would like to participate in an internship in order to gain experience in the computer field and work for the government. His GPA is 4.0.
FAITH WALKER – is a General Studies major from Decatur, Alabama. She has been a member of the Calhoun Chorale for the past two years and has performed at many events both on and off campus during that time. She was the recipient of a Calhoun Foundation Presidential Scholarship and was awarded a Chorale Scholarship to attend Calhoun. She is active in her community through her participation as a member of her church’s worship team. Faith’s goal is to attend Auburn University for a Vocal/Instrumental Music Education degree, and eventually obtain her doctorate degree in Music. She would like to become a chorale instructor at a four-year university. Her GPA is 4.0.
MARY KATHRYNE WILSON – is a General Studies major from Madison, Alabama. She is currently a member of both the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta honor societies. Mary also works in the Admissions Office at Calhoun as a student worker. She is active in her community through her service as a volunteer at Madison Hospital in the CT/MRI Department and also volunteers her time with the female youth at her church. Mary’s goal is to become a Registered Nurse and obtain her Master’s Degree in Nursing. Her GPA is 3.84.
