Byron Bay (BUDDI) Project Turn Around
BUDDI CDAT in partnership with the STEER Project will use brand new, state-of-the-art alcoliser/breathalyser machines, with in-built data capturing spread-sheet programs, based at community events and festivals, to disseminate alcohol-awareness education, mostly to drivers, to change their behaviours towards drinking and driving. The sites where we will be set up will mostly be located close to exits, carparks and areas where drivers will need to walk directly past us, both on the way in and on the way out. Information will be given out during their entries, regarding the program and how they can come and test with us, at any time, but particularly prior to leaving, giving enough time, should they record a BAC reading over the legal limit to drive, that they will be able to 'Turn Around' and return to eat and drink water, in order to assist to reduce their BAC levels. The project targets people of all ages attending community events, festivals, school leaver celebrations, tourists and more.
