We, the parishioners of Holy Spirit Catholic Church,
come together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit
to promote the mission of Jesus Christ by reaching
out in service, fostering Christian growth in our
families and spreading the Gospel of Jesus’ presence
in our community and beyond. We recognize the
fundamental importance of faith, prayer, fellowship
and a call to serve others.

2019-2020 K of C Catholic Citizenship Essay Con-
test-Open to all Catholic students (public, private,
home or parochial). In grades 8-12 during the current
school year. Contestants are asked to consider the
meaning of “virtue” and think about ways in which
to personally exemplify the virtue of Charity to glo-
rify and reflect the nature of God. The essay should
be 500-750 words in length. Entry forms will be in
the Narthex of the Church. All entries must be sub-
mitted by December 15, 2019. Entries may be mailed
to Bob Greuter, 8000 Woodstone Dr., Hixson, TN
37343 or emailed to [email protected]. If emailed
please identify it is an essay submission. All essays
must include an entry form. A gift card will be
awarded to the winner in each grade. The five win-
ning entries will be forwarded to the state competition
and if they win at state to the national contest.
Our Annual Advent Celebration will be Saturday,
November 30th. We will begin with Mass at 5:30
p.m. After Mass the children’s choir will be singing
and ringing bells. Then settle in for a live production
of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” presented by the
children. End the evening downstairs in the Parish
Hall with dinner and crafts.
Reminder for all parents of children making their
First Reconciliation there is a First Penance Retreat on
Sunday, December 1st in the Parish Hall from 12:30
p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note that a parent or grand-
parent is required to stay for the Retreat as well.
All children of the Parish are invited to participate in
the Children’s Choir. Both groups will be performing
at the 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass. Practices begin
on Sunday, December 1st. Times are: Bell Choir 9:45
a.m. in the Parish Hall and Children’s Choir 11:30
a.m. following Mass. The Bell Choir is for children
age 3 and up. Children’s Choir participants need to
be able to read.
Ladies of Charity Needs Your Help! If you’re look-
ing for a volunteer opportunity where you can help
others, have fun, meet like-minded giving people, and
make friends then Ladies of Charity is for you. You
can volunteer as little or as much as you’d like. Vol-
unteer opportunities include sorting and tagging
clothes and house wares; and cashiering. If you’re
