CLASS -VIII
“Happiness is seeing the smile on a children’s face as they learn”
Let's help our children to use this unlimited time at home as the golden opportunities
by fulfilling their hobbies and interests. You are advised to use this golden time to
develop your child's artistic skills and new habits. Also, your children will enjoy
assisting you in the household chores.
We want to make our children good innovators, creators, communicators, thinkers
and leaders. Keeping this in mind, we have designed the Holiday Homework for out
little stars.
GUIDELINES FOR THE PARENTS
Kindly ensure that the holiday home work is completed by the students under the
guidance of the parents.
Make sure your child follow the following things:
1) Healthy morning: Help your child inculcate good habits like doing yoga, some kind
of exercise and encourage him/her to wish all elders in the morning.
2) Physical Development: Play different games like hide and seek, football, ludo,
chess, puzzles, snakes and ladders, carom board etc. with your child. This will
encourage them to express freely and will make them more responsible.
3) Language Development: Encourage your child to converse in English. Let them
come up with their thinking skills on any topic and give them time to feel
comfortable with you while doing so.
4) Bond with your child: Tell your ward about your childhood, share incidents from
the past and show him/her old family albums. This will strengthen the bond between
you and your child. Cook dinner together, show your child how to measure 1 cup,
1/2 cup, 1 teaspoon etc. Start naming the food groups when you serve them. Let
your child help in household chores like cleaning windows, filling water bottles,
laying table, arranging toys, watering the plants etc.
5)Health and Hygiene :“Healthy mind resides in a healthy body.” So start your day
early and set a routine even during vacations. In addition you and your little one can
spend some quality time playing, exercising to keep yourself fit and healthy.
Encourage your child to take care of personal hygiene by inculcating the habits like
washing hands, practicing yoga, eating healthy food etc.
6) Fun with books :Book is a gift you can open again and again. Encourage your child
to read age appropriate picture books. Picture reading must be followed by a
discussion with the child .Encourage him/her to share views on what he/she has seen
in the book.

Q1. You participated in ‘Emerging Scientist Hunt Show’ and have been selected for
the final round to be held in Mumbai. Write a letter to your principal requesting her
to grant you leave for the same.
Q2. Safety with Articles
Steps:-
a. Select any medium of advertising—television, magazines or online.
b. Decide upon a product and its name.
c. Promote the chosen product as per the medium of advertising chosen by you.
d. Use your creativity to write a catchy slogan/jingle/story and make pictures to advertise your products. Use articles correctly in your slogan/jingle/story for the product.
e. Send the advertisement video/pictures/charts in the google classroom or via mail –[email protected]
Q3. CHOOSE AND READ ANY NOVEL (either from a book or from internet surfing)
a. Read the novel.
b. Prepare a WORD WALL of 20 difficult words that you learnt from the story.(Word
wall is the set of new words with their meaning on a chart or any piece of paper.)
c. Write the things you like the most in the story. Also write the theme of the story.

Pick out any two words from the newspaper everyday. Write their meanings and
make sentences of your own in English notebook.

DO AS DIRECTED:
1) Have you heard of the campaign: "Say No To Plastics". Coin a few more slogans
of this kind. There are certain governmental and non-governmental
organizations who educate the general public on how to make wise use of
plastics and develop environment friendly habits. Find out organizations in
your area which are carrying out awareness programS. If there is none, form
one.
ACTIVITY
2) Devise an activity to show that organic waste is biodegradable while plastic is
not, what you need to do is, take some organic waste (like peels of fruits,
vegetables) in a beaker/pot and keep the pot in your balcony or garden and
take some plastic waste materials in other beaker/pot. Mark them as A and B
respectively. Cover the wastes in both the beakers with soil. Observe both the
beakers after 20 days. You need to take the pictures of 1at day and last day (of
both the pots). Post those pictures in your Google class room.
You will observe that organic waste has been disappeared in the soil while plastics
are still in the beaker/pot. This shows that organic wastes are biodegradable where
as plastics are non-biodegradable.
