With the holidays around the corner, visitors and resi-dents can complete all of their shopping right here inHoboken due to the abundance of small shops andretail stores that not only line the city’s main drag,Washington Street, but are also sporadicallyspread throughout the famous mile-square city.
Even if you can’t decide what to buy in the manystores in the city, gift certificates to a popular bar orrestaurant in Hoboken are sure to please, and areeasy to find.
Hoboken is host to many spas, beauty salons, and even barber shops for men. To work on thatphysique (or encourage someone else to do so),check out gift opportunities at many of the locallyowned or large chain gyms spread throughout thecity. In Hoboken, there are even some gyms that spe-cialize in mixed martial arts or kickboxing.
There are also many unique places to dine in the city, including newhotspots west of Washington Street or on the water. Hoboken offersmany unique dining opportunities, and a gift certificate from some ofthese restaurants is sure to please anyone on a shopping list.
New stores are beginning to pop up on the west side of the city, offer-ing residents and visitors a place to shop off the main drag.
What you can find shopping locallyHoboken has popular small
businesses, stores
The city even has many transportation options for shoppers whochoose not to fight the crowds for a coveted parking spot nearstores. The New Jersey Transit 126 bus from New York City runs upand down Washington Street, and the PATH train can bring visitorsfrom Jersey City or New York. The city also offers the HOP bus, a city-wide bus shuttle service that has a global positioning systemattached to each of the vehicles available for view on the citywebsite, so you know when to be ready for the ride. Taxi rides inHoboken cost only $5 in the city limits, and the Hudson-Bergen LightRail offers riders a trip along the west side of the city.
If you choose to drive, inquire about parking discounts with busi-ness owners, as the city is offering free garage park-
ing coupons to shops in Hoboken during the holi-day shopping reason. Some businesses even offer
their own parking vouchers and parking lots.Metered parking and free four-hour parking
around the city are other options.Since Hoboken is only a square mile, many
shoppers will be out and about walking aroundtown, completing their shopping.
As the city continues to increase in desire and popular-ity, so do the number of its unique boutiques andshops. Hoboken often makes a cameo in many televi-sion shows or movies, and some are even filmedentirely in the city.
Young people have flocked to the city to takeadvantage of the night life and street fairs.
While Hoboken has come to be well known as thehome of Frank Sinatra and baseball, many shoppers
who choose to stay in Hoboken for their holiday needs willsoon learn that they can get everything they need here withouttraveling to a crowded city or mall.
