Heritage in danger
Esposende - Portugal
According to some national newspapers, a third of the material heritage in Portugal is at risk of deterioration or collapse. Some buildings require maintenance, others result from interventions and retraining of poor quality, which damaged its own history and its environment. Finally, the lack of interventions to prevent storm damage and vandalism due to lack of funds, wich contributes to the degradation of heritage.
As for the intangible heritage, there are also problems of conservation, recording, cataloging and perpetuation, as the rituals, beliefs and legends. These may disappear if not held collections and records advisable.
