WHAT IT IS…
Heart attack is the death of a
portion of heart muscle caused by
the loss of blood supply. It happens
due to blood clot in coronary
artery also termed as coronary
thrombosis. When the heart muscle
dies, the patient experiences chest
pain and electrical instability, that very pain is “heart –attack”.
IT’S SYMPTOMS…
Chest pain: As its being
pressed or squeezed by a
heavy object, and pain can
radiate from the chest to the
jaw, neck, arms and back
Shortness of breath
Feeling weak and or lightheaded
Overwhelming feeling of anxiety
WHAT CAUSES
HEART ATTACK
Majorly its caused because of
CHD(coronary heart disease). It is
the condition when the coronary
artery(the one which majorly
supplies blood to heart muscles)
gets blocked with accumulation
of cholesterol. These deposits are
called “plaques”. During the
attack, one of the plaques bursts
forming a blood clot. This clot then
can disturb the entire blood flow
ultimately resulting into heart
attack.
MAJOR REASONS
OF ITS HAPPENINGS
The few major reasons of its
occurrence are:
High Blood pressure
High Cholesterol
Obesity
Hypertension
Not exercising
Intake of excessive junk food
Smoking
Sleep disorders
FIRST THING, FIRST
If you suspect that someone has
got a heart attack apart from
calling ambulance, the casualty
should be given “ASPIRIN” tablet
(300 mg) to slowly chew and then
swallow. Aspirin will help thin the
blood and restore blood supply to
the heart.
COMPLICATIONS OF
HEART-ATTACK
Complications arise from heart attack may vary
from mild to life threatening.
Minor Attack : Heart attacks are described as
minor or incomplete where the blood flow to
the heart muscle is partially blocked rather than
cut off.
Major Attack : Heart attacks are described as
major where the blood flow to the heart muscle
is completely blocked.
(Note: Those who experiences a minor attack are likely to
get a major one within 2 weeks or in 6 months.)
RECOVERY
Heart attack can take several months and one
who survived should make healthier changes
towards a healthy heart.
Active Life-style - Exercise like a brisk walk,
some strength building, cycling, rowing etc.
Healthy Eating - Clearly diet is crucial for
prevention of both primary and for secondary
cardiac events.
Remain stress free - Its evident that both chronic and acute stress can increase the risk of
heart attack.
