Pope Francis said that “every person ought to have the awareness that purchasing is always a moral – and not simply an economic – act.” What slavery-free Easter eggs will you enjoy this Easter weekend? Big supermarkets will be ordering their 2019 Easter chocolate products soon, so keep the issue going in your community. And today, only eat chocolate featuring one of these symbols and tell people why. Happy Easter. And spread the word. https://acrath.org.au/slaveryfree-easter for information and resources.

All in attendance found the forum to be a very positive and useful experience in generating ideas and suitable discussion points. It is hoped that we will be able to emulate the success of this gathering by constructing our own forum in the future for our students to converse about relevant issues. Year 10 Outdoor Education Rottnest Expedition

Year 10 Outdoor Education students travelled to Rottnest Island in Week 8 for three fun-filled days exploring the A-Class Reserve. Each day, students travelled around the island on bikes and snorkelled at the most breathtaking bays, from the Basin to Mary Cove. They encountered some beautiful wildlife in the both pristine blue waters and on land with the Quokas.

Page 6: Happy Easter - Irene McCormack · Happy Easter I wish all members of the Irene McCormack Catholic College community a very Happy Easter. I encourage you to take time to reflect on

Many students challenged themselves swimming through the various swim-throughs at an array of lengths and depths, and cycling around the island on different terrain. Students experienced a completely different snorkelling environment compared to Mindarie Marina, where they had practical sessions throughout the term in the lead up to the expedition. The change of scenery was a new and exciting experience for students, who were amazed by the marine life and developed their appreciation of the island. Thank you to staff who attended the whole week, Miss Harvey, Mr Bright and Mr Ferguson, and also to those who joined us during the expedition, Miss Billam and Mr Carbone.
