H.264 options + the followingH.264 options
H.265 replaces 16×16 pixel macroblocks, with coding tree units (CTUs) which can use larger block structures of up to 64x64 samples and can better sub-partition the picture into variable sized structures.
H.265 initially divides the picture into CTUs which can be 64×64, 32×32, or 16×16 with a larger pixel block size usually increasing the coding efficiency.
Macro Blocks
H.265 H.264
H.265 allows predicted blocks to be coded in different block sizes. Each top level coding unit (or CTU) is first coded as a prediction quad-tree, where at each depth the encoder decides whether to encode with merge/skip, inter, or intra coding. The residual from those predictions is then coded with a second quad-tree which can optionally have greater depth than the prediction quad-tree. For instance, this allows the residual error from a 32×32 inter coded coding unit (CU) to be represented by a mixture of 16×16, 8×8, and 4×4 transforms.
Macro Block Size
H.264 is not as flexible as H.265 when only part of the block has changed.
Being reduced to
Macro Blocks
Motion vectors use the previously decoded block from the previous image and find it in the following frame and then use the original image to find the differences. If found, the encoder sends the Motion vector + Error in block

Motion Vectors
Good:Bandwidth and Storage saving up to 50% for the same video quality.Reduce the side effect of video latency.
Bad:Need more resources to decode (Playback)/encoder (Camera)
Note: - It is also worth mentioning that H.265 is a different Encoding which require a different
hardware to encode which requires camera manufactures buy/develop different chipset and redesign of the PCB boards of the new cameras
- More compression is not the same as “different method of encoding” as the first compromise the quality if the video as the other is made not maintain the same video quality at a lower bitrate
- You can record H.265 and Live can be H.264 (Our cameras can send both H.264 and H.265 at the same time)
The Good & Bad
Hanwha cameras utilize a triple codec, allowing H.265 & H.264 & MJPEG to stream all at the same time.
This is beneficial for integrating with 3rd party systems that don’t (yet) support H.264, allowing installation of the best camera and migrating to H.265 once VMS support is provided.
Triple Codec also allows different streams to be sent for different purposes (Live/record/mobile, etc.)

Hanwha WiseStream White Paper
What is WiseStream?
Wisestream is an intelligent codec for H.265 and H.264 to lower bandwidth and storage needs.
WiseStream works automatically based on the scene and adjusts as needed.
WiseStream 1.0 Reduces Bitrate using the following Methods, and allows independent configuration and enablement as needed by:
1. Identifying motion areas of the scene and providing higher compression to background areas while retaining high quality for motion zones. This happens automatically and dynamically. WiseStream provides a setting of high, medium, and low for the relative quality desired. Configured globally as needed.
2. Dynamically adjusting the GOV (I-Frame Interval) which is the biggest frame size depending on the scene, amount of motion present and network activity. Configured per profile as needed.
WiseStream is supported on Wisenet X, P, & Q Series cameras.

Dynamic Motion-Based Regions of Interest
Intelligent Codecs increase the spacing between I-Frames when there is little/no activity in the scene.
When motion occurs, it immediately inserts an I-Frame, and then continues at the normal GOV interval.
This drastically reduces bandwidth, as I-Frames are bandwidth intensive.

WiseStream 2.0WiseStream 2.0 improves upon the industry leading bandwidth saving technology by adding Dynamic Frame Rate Control.
Dynamic Frame Rate allows the camera to stream at low frame rate when there is no motion to save bandwidth.
When motion is detection, the frame rate kicks back to the set rate, and utilizes WiseStream to continue saving bandwidth.
WiseStream 2.0 is supported on Wisenet X Series cameras.

• All Hanwha NVRs are able to record I-frame on non-event/continuous recording, then kick up to full frame rate on event.
• With WiseStream, the I-Frame may be up to 16 seconds away.
• DFPS allows us to still have a baseline low frame rate (such as 1FPS, 5FPS, etc.) non-event recording stream that kicks up to full frame rate on event.
WiseStream 2.0
• WiseStream II also reduces bandwidth by reducing noise, especially in low light scenes.
• A low pass filter and 3D-noise reduction techniques are applied with different intensity depending on the level of WiseStream sensitivity selected (low, medium, or high).
WiseStream II – Noise Reduction
WiseStream Configuration OptionsWiseStream allows a) Dynamic Motion Zones, b) DGOV, & c) DFPS to be enabled independently.
This allows you full flexibility & VMS integration.
• Use WiseNet Device Manager to view current bitrate, I-Frame spikes, frame rate, etc.
• Use full-screen to check for artifacts, etc.• Use WiseNet Device Manager to easily set profile settings in batch.
