JAPAN National Team MEDIA GUIDE 3
Greetings
There is a deep bond between Brazil and
Japan: the two countries share more than
100 years of history beginning with Japanese
immigration to Brazil, and Japanese football
was developed with help of Brazilian coaches
and players.
For the many Japanese descendants who
live in Brazil, and to show our gratitude to
the Brazilian coaches and players who made
great efforts for the development of Japanese
football in the past, we would like to fight
to demonstrate “true Japanese football” and
make our mark in the land of the Kingdom of
Football, Brazil.
Under the name of “SAMURAI BLUE,” the Japan
National Team will fight fairly with our heads
held high, and our total focus on the road
ahead of us. Please follow our journey.
Acompanhem a seleção japonesa “SAMURAI
BLUE”, atuando com fair play , orgulho e
seriedade.

JFA LogoThe three-legged crow holding a ball represents the god of day, namely, the sun, cited from a classical book of old China. It is believed that the three-legged crow provided Emperor Jimmu and his army with directions on his expedition to the East. The yellow and blue colors of the flag represent fair play and youth, respectively, thereby suggesting Japan Football Association's spirit of fairness backed by the vigorous power of youth.

"The quality and accuracy of Japanese football abilities has improved even more over these past four years. I would like to show proof of the progress of the Japan National Team. In order to demonstrate the true spirit of Japanese football and to play a game in our style, we must take initiative in the game, instead of playing reactively. All members of the Japan National Team possess the ability to realize such play, a high-level of understanding of strategies and a degree of utility, as well as value teamwork. Demonstrating better performances will naturally result in better results. I am confident that we have a great team with strong players who can demonstrate a tremendous performance, provided that physical conditions are well maintained."
