Studentsareeligibletoapplyforthisprogramiftheymeetthefollowingeligibilitycriteria:
This14-dayprogramwillhelpyoutocomparativelyanswerthequestionsof“howandwhy”individualsinaBlueZoneliveto100yearsandbeyond.Youwillexaminethehealthylifestyles,purposeoflife,andhappinessstrategiesinIkaria,Greece,andpersonallyapplytheselongevitylessonstoconvertyourcurrentDangerZoneintoaBlueZone.Itisourhopethatyourrenewedspiritwillinvokethe“pass-it-forward”ripplingeffecttoinfluenceyourfamily,friends,andothercitizenswithinyourcommunity.Theprimaryaimofyourvisitwillbetounderstandthespiritual,emotional,intellectual,physical,andsocialdimensionsofwellnesswithintheGreeceBlueZone.

ThesecoursesaredesignedtofacilitateyourunderstandingofthelifestylesandmindsetofpeopleintheBlueZones,wherethemostCentenariansandSuperCentenarianslive.Oncethetheoreticalconsiderationsarelearned,studentsareencouragedtoapplytheknowledgeandlongevitylessonsfromtheIkarianBlueZonetopracticalapplicationsbackintheUnitedStates.
WheninIkaria,youwillseekandinterviewolderadults,Centenarians,and/orSuperCentenarianstolinktheorywithpractice.YouwillalsoexperienceGreekcultureandfood,delveintothehotthermalspringswithpurportedhealingqualities,encounterthedramaticrockycliffsandcrystalclearwater,andvisitawinery,honeyhouse,andhospital.Youwillexperiencerichhistoriesandtraditionsthatspanoverthousandsofyears.Housingisincluded,andyouhavetheopportunitytotraveltosurroundingareasbeforeand/oraftertheprogramasdesired.
