Brief Introduction:-
The Institute was established in 1985 Initially with Two trades, which gradually progressed and new
trades as per the market requirement were introduced from time to time and the trades were being
affiliated with NCVT.
Building and Area:
The Institute is spread over an area of 8 kanals having 5 main blocks of different area which were
constructed in phased manner from 1985 onward one building is constructed by PWD under PPP (Public
private partnership scheme) with industry partner NHPC Chutak Kargil.
The Institute is providing Training facilities in different trades to more than 250 trainees per year under
CTS (Craftsmen Training Scheme) through different schemes like District -Plan, CSS (Centrally Sponsored
Scheme), PMRP (Prime Minister Reconstruction Project)
The institution was adapted by NHPC Chutak Kargil from March-2012 under PPP mode and
chief engineer NHPC is the Chairman of IMC ITI Kargil along with two senior Manager from NHPC are its
member.

New Building constructed under PPP/IMC Mode
A double story building under Public private partnership scheme at the cost of Rs, 58 lacs. has
been constructed by the agency concern PWD Kargil, and inaugurated by Shri. M.S. Babu Executive
Director (O&M) NHPC Ltd. In presence of Shri. Baswajit Basu Chief Engineer NHPC Kargil / Chairman IMC
and all IMC members including staff and students of the institution on 17-11-2014.
