One of the greatest contributions
you can make to empower future
generations of women is the gift
of a world-class education.
By leaving a bequest, you can
become a crucial part of the ongoing
success of Lauriston Girls’ School,
and its unique educational programs
enriching the lives of future students.
GIVE TO THE FUTURE
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity that my scholarship has given
me—in my education and, in turn, my life as a whole. When I began at
Lauriston, I was expecting the academic challenge of high expectations,
supportive teachers and the International Baccalaureate (IB), but was not
expecting the challenge of ‘clicking in’ to an all-girls school. I think this has
shaped me as a person and allowed me to mature in a nurturing environment.
My time at Lauriston has given me a wider perspective on the world,
through the IB but also through the mixture of students from such diverse
backgrounds who have become such a significant part of my life. This was an
incredible opportunity and I hope other girls have the same chance as I did.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENT 2017
From student to teacher to
long-serving Principal, Elizabeth Kirkhope
made an enormous contribution to
Lauriston. As Principal from 1933 to
1964, she had a lasting impact in shaping
and nurturing the ethos of the School.
Elizabeth believed that a well-rounded
education was vital ‘to acquire an open
mind’ and constantly looked for ways to
ensure all her girls would receive the best
instruction in the best facilities.
The Elizabeth Kirkhope Circle
commemorates the legacy of
Miss Kirkhope who strongly
advocated for the continued growth
and progression of girls’ education.
The Elizabeth Kirkhope Circle was
established in 2011 to honour Lauriston’s
benefactors who have chosen to
support the School directly through a
gift in their will.
Remembering Lauriston in your will
will ensure the provision of funds
for the buildings and facilities,
scholarships and programs that are
vital for sustaining our thriving learning
environment for girls.
As a result of your generosity you will be
recognised as a member of our bequest
society, The Elizabeth Kirkhope Circle,
and receive the satisfaction of knowing
that your gift will make a difference in
the lives of many to follow.
THE ELIZABETH KIRKHOPE STORY
A LASTING IMPACT
A Lauriston education
is a universal education;
it prepares me
for the challenges that
I will face in the world.
TRINITY YEAR 12
Lilian Bayly Centre – opened in 2007
I am dedicated to the School’s history,
to its present vitality and to its robust
future as girls continue to grow into
thoughtful, confident women.
My association with Lauriston began
as a parent in 1975; I then served on
Council, including six years as Chair,
and I now have granddaughters at
Lauriston. I am pleased to be back
and sharing the message about the
important role the Elizabeth Kirkhope
Circle plays in the future of Lauriston.
Join with me and give to the future.

Think back to when you were a student
and consider how different schools look
today. While it is difficult to predict the
future in this rapidly changing world,
Lauriston’s enduring values - Courage,
Creativity, Relationships, Intellectual
Curiosity and Engagement in Life -
will undoubtedly remain the cornerstone
for girls in years to come. Knowing that
you can make a difference to future
generations is an exciting prospect.
Since 1901, Lauriston has been a leader
in girls’ education, achieving exceptional
results through progressive-thinking and
the continual rejuvenation of programs
and facilities.
You may consider a bequest as a
significant way of giving back to
Lauriston enabling the School to maintain
its drive, goals and traditions and prepare
girls and young women for a great career
and rewarding life, just as you have
experienced.
A gift for the future can help shape a
young woman to make a difference
and contribute to a global society we
cannot yet imagine.
THE FUTURE OF GIRLS’ EDUCATION
I have chosen to leave
a bequest to Lauriston
Girls’ School because of
my commitment to the
education of girls.
I believe that my bequest
will support the continued
improvement of the
learning environment
for the girls and young
women who attend
Lauriston and, in turn, this
will empower them to use
their education to make a
difference in our society.

YOUR GIFT AT WORK
A Lauriston education has provided
me with valuable life skills and
knowledge that will be used in a
future filled with purpose and hope.
Lauriston offers so many
amazing opportunities that
will be needed in the busy
future we are all going to
experience.
ALICE YEAR 12
EVA GRADE 6
The Education Fund is an integral
aspect of Lauriston’s academic program.
The corpus of this fund is built
up through collective bequests
(unendowed) and income is managed
and distributed by the Foundation
towards critical programs and initiatives.
Two alumnae, Sarah Hollyer (1967)
and Merrin Tegner (1964), created a
lasting memory at Lauriston through
their bequests.
The School commemorated them with
the naming of Sarah Hollyer House
at Howqua and the Merrin Tegner
photographic studio.
The Diana Robertson Scholarship was
established through an endowment
from her estate in 1992.
Diana Robertson (1966) was an alumna
with a keen interest in history, making
this passion her career.
Diana left a bequest in her will for a
scholarship to be awarded annually to
the best history student in Year 10 to
encourage them to continue in years 11
and 12.
Her foresight ensures history remains a
focus every year.
The girls who receive the annual prize
are extremely grateful for her advocacy
and are inspired to study further.
AN ENDURING FUTURE
Lilian Bayly Year 7/8 Centre Lilian Bayly (1930) completed her entire
education at Lauriston.
Her fondest memories were of hockey
matches, the Moreton Bay fig tree, the
school buildings and special teachers.
It endured in her mind as a place where
she had been very happy.
Lilian’s love of Lauriston, and her
recognition of the effect it had on her
life, was formalised with an extraordinary
gift in her will.
Through her generosity and vision the
School was able to build the 7/8 Centre
in 2007, creating a facility that allows
girls to easily transition to Senior School.
Lilian’s bequest has made a major
impact, ensuring the future of Lauriston
and the continued achievement of the
School’s educational goals.
A gift to the Elizabeth Kirkhope Circle
creates a powerful and enduring
connection with Lauriston, lasting longer
than a lifetime.
The profound generosity of those in
our community who have the foresight
to leave a bequest will enable the School
to positively benefit the lives of future
students and their families.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
I feel so fortunate to have had a Lauriston education.
I learnt to be an independent thinker and that you can achieve
anything. I made life-long friends that I will cherish forever.
By leaving a (modest) bequest to Lauriston, I feel that I am
giving back to the school that gave me my foundations in life.
I strongly believe in girls’ education and hope that my gift will
make a difference to future Lauristonians.
