Geosphere
By Sebastian
-The geosphere is the Earth’s outer layer of
crust.
-It is the densest part of the Earth.
-It is made up of minerals ,rocks ,and landforms.
What is the Geosphere?
The carbon cycle
The cycles of the geosphere
The cow eats and absorbs carbon.
The cow exhales CO2.The plant
absorbs oxygen.
The plant gives oxygen.
Features of the Geosphere
Continents
Tectonic Plates
Earthquakes
Erosion Volcanoes
Pacific/North America
South America/African
Evrasion/Antarctica
North America
South America
Europe
Asia
Antarctica
Africa
Australia
Exist along edges of tectonic plates
About 90 percent of all volcanoes exist within the Ring of Fire About 1,900 volcanoes on Earth are considered active
A sudden movement of the earth's crust
caused by the release of stress accumulated along geologic fault lines
material is worn away from the earth's surface
weathering, dissolution, abrasion, corrosion, and transportation
Geosphere Interactions
How does theGeosphere interact with other spheres?
The volcano erupts
A volcano cloud forms in the atmosphere
The geosphere has many rocks
The hydrosphere breaks down the geosphere(rocks)
Geosphere Layers
Geosphere
Crust
Mantle
Core
outermost layer
hot layer of rock
Earth’s center
Human interactions with the Geosphere
How do humans effect the Geosphere?
Mining Metal ore is extracted from Earth at mines
TrashLandfills form
