EARTH AND SPACE PAST AND PRESENT MODELS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Astronomer- people who study the stars and other objects in space.

Lots of years ago without the help of a telescope scientist had a hard time mapping the universe and describing the solar system.

Telescope- Instrument designed for the observation of remote objects.

Solar system- a group of celestial bodies traveling around a sun.

PTOLEMY’S MODEL Greek astronomer Ptolemy suggested a

model of the universe that placed the planets, moon and sun revolving paths around the earth.

COPERNICUS’S MODEL Later on Nicholas Copernicus (Polish)

proposed a model of the universe that placed the sun in the center and the planets, including the earth, revolving around it.
