SHELLY BEACH, NAMBUCCA HEADS – NOT PATROLLED End of Parkes St – turn east into Ridge St at PO, then Right into Parkes St. • Very pretty beach – popular with artists and photographers • Ramp access from car park • Shade under Casaurina trees most of day • Rock platform – Wellington Rock – at southern end of beach (rockpools and shells) • Boat ramp, BBQ and picnic tables • Beach fishing and facilities for cleaning your catch • Public toilets and showers • Captain Cook Lookout above is great for whale and bird watching – in season • Sheltered from southerly winds • Walking track to river entrance and Beilbys Beach • Windsurfing and board riding • Car park – including Disabled, van and trailer parking BEILBY’S BEACH, NAMBUCCA HEADS – NOT PATROLLED At Main Beach headland turn into Newry St and then into Ulrick Drive – follow to end. • Secluded beach just south of Main Beach • Car Parking • Walking track • Beach fishing • Lookout and picnic facilities on headland above • Conditions for surfing, wind surfing and para sailing • Quiet and uncrowded • Steps and path down from Pilot Street SOUTH BEACH, NAMBUCCA HEADS – NOT PATROLLED 10 km north of Main Beach Scotts Head – access only by boat, beachwalk or 4WD from Scotts Head (Beach Driving Permit required). This is the beach at the southern mouth of Nambucca River. • Remote, no facilities • Beach fishing from spit and beach • Estuary fishing in Warrell Creek • Surfing for experienced board-riders • Little Tern breeding colony Dangerous currents along this stretch of coastline THE GLEN, NAMBUCCA HEADS – NOT PATROLLED This is a river beach close to the entrance of Nambucca River at the end of Wellington Drive. BELLWOOD PARK, NAMBUCCA HEADS – NOT PATROLLED 1km off highway on Riverside Drive – First street on left (road to Island Golf Club) this riverside beach has been popular with families for many years. • Family safe • Shady picnic and BBQ areas • Playground • Public toilets • Estuary fishing • Pontoon • Take away and general store nearby • Caravan park and motel accommodation close • Golf club across causeway • Windsurfing – excellent place for beginners • Boat ramp over causeway • Bicycle/walking path

NORTH VALLA BEACH – NOT PATROLLED From Valla Beach Road turn left into Henderson St – then Cockburn Street to Bow Lowden Park to reach the northern end; or left into Buchanan St to access from the southern end – short walk through public reserve to beach. • Pristine “horseshoe” beach stretching north to Hungry Head • Remote, quiet and uncrowded • Perfect for beach walks – 7km to Hungry Head (no beach access to South Valla Beach at high tide) • Short bushwalks into Jagun Nature Reserve • Beach fishing • Conditions for experienced board riders, wind surfers, etc • Basic BBQ and picnic area • Borders nature reserve • Lookouts – whale and dolphin watching in season • Close to holiday accommodation

SCOTTS HEAD

Scotts Head – Turn 3km South of Macksville For 12km

Scotts Head – 3km South of Macksville MAIN (FORSTER) BEACH, SCOTTS HEAD – PATROLLED SUMMER WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS • This ‘north facing’, crescent shaped beach is possibly the best “family beach” on the North Coast – the

gradual slope of the seabed allows even tiny tots to play in the surf • Ramp access to beach • The sand is ‘squeaky’ clean – perfect for building sandcastles • World Champion surfers have learnt to ride the waves here • The Point is a favourite spot for the malibu’s, wave-skiers and beginners. Conditions are best in the winter

months but still popular in summer • Viewing platform and lookout on Surf Club Headland is ideal spot to view dolphins, whales and sea birds • Caravan park and recreation reserve provides excellent facilities for both long term and day visitors • Covered, free gas BBQ and picnic facilities • Parking in recreation reserve and near surf club – including disabled and boat/van parking • Well equipped children’s playground • Beach, rock and estuary fishing (Warrell Creek) and boat ramp for deep sea fishing trips • Bowling and Recreation Club and tennis, basketball and netball courts • Range of holiday accommodation • Supermarket, cafes and specialty stores close by • Surf ski, wind surfing and jet boating • Walking tracks over headlands and along beach • The energetic or those seeking solitude should walk northwards along the beach • Scotts Head is the most southerly East Coast landing of the boat people • Yarriabini National Park and Yarrahapinni Mountain Lookout only a short drive away
