The TRA’s Information and eGovernment Sector (IeG) is responsible for propelling the electronicGovernment at the federal level in the UAE. The IeG develops and implements the eGovernmentprogramme with the aim of bringing about a shift in the access and delivery methods of federal government services and information to electronic processes.
IeG promotes the application of eGovernment through eParticipation. According to the UN E-Government Survey 2012, the UAE soared to 6th rank from 86th rank in 2010 in eParticipation index. In online service index, the UAE leapt to 7th rank from 99th rank in 2010.
IeG is part of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and is steered by the Federal eGovernment Plan 2012-2014 that chalks out the initiatives and plan of action towards building a sustainable eGovernment in the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) was formed by the Abu Dhabi Government under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. It is the governmental party overseeing the IT agenda of Abu Dhabi. ADSIC’s mission is to enable the modernization of government services through Information Technology, using multiple channels of delivery. It envisions a high-performance government delivering world-class services. ADSIC uplifts the goal of government modernization at large, which focuses on Performance Improvement, Process Simplification, and Use of IT.

The Information Technology Authority (ITA), established by Royal Decree No. 52/2006 issued on 31 May 2006, is an independent national authority with financial and administrative independence. As an independent body, the ITA is chiefly responsible for implementing the Digital Oman strategy - e.oman for short, promoting Information Communications Technologies (ICTs), and supervising all infrastructure projects to enable delivery of electronic services under the framework of Digital Oman.
